Odyssey7Q+ To Support Sony PXW-FS5 Camera

convdeslogo-dvi2Colorado Springs, CO (September 11, 2015) – Convergent Design today announces full support of the new Sony PXW-FS5 camera. The two companies have worked to provide compatibility between the Odyssey7Q+ monitor/recorder and the new camera. No other monitor/recorder offers this level of integration.

Upon initial release in November, the FS5 will output QFHD (UHD) 3840×2160 video in 4:2:2 10-bit up to 30p via HDMI. The Odyssey7Q+ will record this in Apple ProRes in 422(HQ), 422 or 422(LT). The FS5 will also offer output of S-Log2 and S-Log3, which are fully supported in the Odyssey7Q+ LUT System.

In a future option, the FS5 will also offer RAW output. The Odyssey7Q+ will support all resolutions and frame rates output in FS RAW, as it currently does with the Sony FS7 and FS700 cameras. The Odyssey7Q+ will be able to record these RAW signals as both CinemaDNG files as well as Apple ProRes.

The FS5 S-Log2 and S-Log3 gamma curves allow the full dynamic range of the camera’s sensor to be captured. Using the Odyssey LUT System, six different presets provide a preview of a color corrected image for proper lighting and exposure on set. In addition to the provided presets, the Odyssey LUT System also accepts up to 140 custom 3D-LUTs. The Odyssey LUT System can display the corrected image on its OLED screen and distribute it over two SDI and one HDMI outputs. These outputs can be individually adjusted to show the LUT, the original signal, or the either along with the Odyssey Image Analysis Tools such as Waveform, Vectorscope and False Color. Other Odyssey7Q+ monitor functions such as Pixel Hyper Zoom and Anamorphic De-Squeeze are also fully compatible with the FS5.
