Okay, well then here's another stumper for you. Heh.
He: "Meantime, by authority of the Federal Communications Commission, and the grace of a kindly Providence which gave me the power of not having to listen to people, I am now going off the air." She: "Don't you dare take that thing off, I haven't finished talking to you!" |
Is it Network? Or is it Broadcast News??
|
Nope, but I can tell you that it's from a movie from 1965 that was remade less than a decade ago. The quote is in the original but not the remake. But I think you'll still need another hint.
|
I think that I need another hint. lol
|
Chris, I had this great idea that I'd just browse through all the films listed in IMDB for 1965 and look for something that was remade. It has 3000+ listings. I got bored at "Bad Girls Go To Hell".
Was it Bad Girls Go To Hell? :) |
Heh. I knew nobody was gonna get that; and I've hijacked this thread long enough, so here's another clue for you... it's a Walt Disney movie.
|

Man I have researched and reasearched. This is a tough one. The only one I can come up with is, "That Darn Cat." (1965 & 1997) I can't find the line of course. Maybe? Mike |
You can't find the quote because I checked first, and it's *nowhere* online (except for here, now, of course). Indeed, "That Darn Cat" is it; the original, not the 1997 remake. It's a Disney movie about sex, of all things!
He is Wilbur MacDougall, played by William Demarest, and she is Kipp MacDougall, played by Elsa Lanchester. The very next line is "Goodnight old woman. I can't hear what you're saying, but whatever it is, I disagree with you one hundred percent!" Another other great line from "That Darn Cat" is also courtesy of William Demarest: Mrs. MacDougall: I distinctly heard a woman scream! Mr. MacDougall: Right, and if you don't get away from that door you're gonna hear another! Okay, I've hijacked this thread with mundane obscurities long enough. Your turn, Mike! |
Wow,
Ok, now I have to think of a good one. I tend to make mine too easy. Standby, Mike |
The Game is on!
Ok, maybe this will be a little harder than my usual.
Mrs. Wilkinson: "Find a place on that bloody wall and focus on that spot. Then whip your head 'round and come back to that spot. Prepare!" All right---go! Mike |
"bloody" indicates an English movie and Mrs. Wilkinson comes up as a character in "Billy Elliot" which is an English movie. I would thus have to guess that it is indeed the movie "Billy Elliot".

Next time, no mention of the characters name. It' all yours Chris. Mike |
easy one
Alright! I Got one!
I think this game needs to have both obscure and fairly easy quotes. If this were the television show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" this quote would be around the $200 question. "One of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well known is this: never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line." I bet this goes quick. |
Quote:
That whole movie is quoteable! Finally I got one. I'll put mine up right away.... #1: "Yeah, well, I'm a victime of circumstance!" #2: "I though you called it your pecker..." |
tremors ? kevin bacon with fred ward in the car
|
If you think you got it Dimitri, give us another!
Mike |
It's really funny to see this game, you guys really can't wait untill the next quote :-D
I understand it though, but still very funny |

Keep it going! Mike |

I'll pick something from Tremors 4 next time. :) |
ok you little addictives :-) here's mine
"if we are going to be f***ed, let us know we're f***ed ahead of time." |
Not even a single guess in over 12 hours...care to give us a hint Dimitri? Just don't make it too easy or obvious.
|
a wild stab at it
After 12 hours without a response or clue it is time to guess. I guess Platoon because thats all I can think of.
I have some ideas for this game. This is what I propose: I think that quotes should be based on the extent that one is able to check back in. I picked an easy one so that the game could continue without me. We are all addicted and always wish to know the answer and have another quote. Dylan started the best link ever (in my compulsive opinion). Now it is time to refine his massive 3 day time frame! If you can't be around for 3 days make it one that others will get without a confirmation. If you are around and can give clues then by all means make it obscure! Heres my idea of times. Easy as in anyone should be able to confirm it means post it and go away forever if you want. Medium means you post clues every 24 hours hard means you post them every 12 hours I think I am going easy for us confirmed addicts |
RULES UPDATE!!!!
If you make a post, either a guess or a new quote, you MUST check back in at least in the morning and evening!! I didn't expect this to take off so quickly. You guys are junkies. :) |
Since more than 26 hours have passed since the last quote was posted and more than 12 hours since a guess was made without any reply from Dimitri, I say we approve Chris's guess and hand the ball to him to supply the next quote. It shouldn't be that big of a problem for the individual posting a quote to check in every 2 to 4 hours to verify a guess or supply additional hints and keep this game rolling at a good pace.
So Chris, I'd say it's your turn to post a quote! |
wo wo wo wait al little bit :p
if your guys that desperate( didn't even know about these responses, something strang) but ok Ill try to give hint :-) it's a rather big hint but hey I think you guys deserve it.:p non fiction ok i'll give you guys one more because i'm in a good mood :p euhm," non fiction about fiction" now I think every moviegoer is going to know this "movie" :-) have fun with it :-) |
lets see "non fiction about fiction" i'm going to have to guess micheal moores last film :)
i kinda liked the pace before this last quote your really going to have to take the time effort and check back more often, and i think the hint is a bit vague i'm no expert at movie quotes but it seems more fun when the casual viewer can take a stab at a new one it at least once a day... lets move on |
hehe first of all it's not correct and for second I think that the level is pretty high for my opinion and still people guessed it. so I merely give a challenge
but hey if you guys don't guess it so I will give a bigger hint "a non fiction film about a fiction film" that pretty musch says it all and narrows down the movies you're thinking about :-) |

"Lost In La Mancha".
The quote pretty much sums up Terry Gilliam's relationship with the studios. I don't remember the exact quote, but with your clues, it makes sense. |
indeed mr.anderson indeed
you won yourself a one way ticket to the next question rofl |
How about an easy one:
...computers are my forte... |

"A man has got to know his limitations."

Ok, here goes:
her: You got full insurance on that truck? him: Liability only. her: [thoughtfully] Liability only... her: That's a very nice truck. him: Don't even think about it. Shouldn't take very long. Mike |
