New one....

For my lost boy call....

CHAR 1: There's a lot of statues in Europe you haven't bought yet.
CHAR 2: You can't blame me. They've been making statues for some two thousand years, and I've only been collecting for five.

James Bridges November 20th, 2005 11:19 PM

Talk about lost. Can't figure that one out. Is it from Blood Lust?

Brian Doyle November 20th, 2005 11:55 PM

Is that for me or Nick... Not right for mine.

Dimitri De Keukelaere November 21st, 2005 11:47 AM

James Bridges November 21st, 2005 11:50 AM

Dimitri De Keukelaere November 21st, 2005 03:57 PM

nope wrong

Dimitri De Keukelaere November 21st, 2005 03:58 PM

ok just fooling arround :D
your turn mathieu :p

James Bridges November 21st, 2005 03:59 PM

Easy one:

The Elephant Man

James Bridges November 21st, 2005 04:00 PM

Oh jease. Got mixed around.

Mathieu Ghekiere November 21st, 2005 04:09 PM

Saw the movie yesterday evening, so :-)

Okay, here goes (I suck at this game, I always make them too easy):

X 1 (Man): What do you do?
X2 (Woman): Why do you care?
X1: I don't. I was just making polite conversation.
X2: I'd rather not discuss what I do.
X1: You know, I think I understand what you're like now. You're very beautiful and you think men are only interested in you because you're beautiful, but you want them to be interested in you because you're you. The problem is, aside from all that beauty, you're not very interesting. You're rude, you're hostile, you're sullen, you're withdrawn. I know you want someone to look past all that at the real person underneath but the only reason anyone would bother to look past all that is because you're beautful. Ironic, isn't it? In an odd way you're your own problem.
X2: Sorry. Wrong line. I am not taken aback by your keen insight and suddenly challenged by you.

Mathieu Ghekiere November 24th, 2005 12:30 PM

Nobody can take a guess?

Jonathan Jones November 24th, 2005 12:44 PM

Yeah, sorry, I hadn't checked the forum lately, but this one is good ole Jack....from "Wolf". I have to admit, this one almost got me..because I KNEW IT WAS JACK, he kept popping into my mind as I read the quote...but the first thing to come to mind was "As good as it gets", but the roles were reversed for the tone of the lines (although not the speaking style)...I had a brain fart....but then it struck me. I haven't seen Wolf in a long time, and it resides somewhat below the horizon in terms of what Jack Nicholson is recognized for, but still a pretty cool movie with some great dialogue and good performances.
-Jon

Mathieu Ghekiere November 24th, 2005 12:49 PM

Congratulations John! You guessed it correct!

Yeah, I haven't seen it in a while too, but I bought it on dvd a couple of days ago (still haven't rewatched it) and when I guessed the other quote, it was the first film to come up in my mind.

Your turn!

Jonathan Jones November 24th, 2005 01:06 PM

Okay, here's one, but I'm going to keep it brief since surrounding dialoge gives it away too much.

X1 "I'm puttin' on your favorite Scooby Doo bedsheets."

X2 "ha ha (laughter) ....Scooby Dooby Doo! ha ha"

Go for it..it's pretty simple although many of you folks probably haven't seen this one - or would admit to it.
-Jon

Brian Doyle November 26th, 2005 06:20 PM

I'm guessing the answer to mathieu's quote is In the Company of Men.

Movie Quote Game Redux

About a year ago Dylan ran a movie quote game... let's try to get that ball rolling again...

Here are the rules:

1. Someone posts a quote from a movie that people may have seen and hopefully remember.

2. Someone else guesses what movie it is from.

3. The original poster confirms that guess is correct.

4. The winner posts the next quote.

Remember the goal is not to post something that no one will get, the goal is to post something people will enjoy straining to successfully remember.

If you guess a movie and you are 100% sure you are right (like the quote was "hast la vista, baby") then you can go ahead and post your next quote.

If you post a quote and no one has gotten it in a day, post a clue or two.

If someone guesses and the original poster does not give the right/wrong in 24 hours, the first guesser gets to assume the throne and post the next quote.

====================

With no further ado... my inaugural quote, and one of my favorite line deliveries of all time:

"Did anything about that seem unusual to you?"

Good luck.

Was it Men in Black?

Barry Gribble July 27th, 2006 01:58 PM

Indeed. Gosh I love that line. Your turn.

Mathieu Ghekiere July 27th, 2006 02:29 PM

Off topic:
ooh darn, this f*ck*ng VERY addictive thread is back...

Andy Graham July 27th, 2006 03:07 PM

Ok This ones kinda easy but its one of the best quotes of all time.

"Never get out of the boat.....absolutely god damn right"

fire away.

Cole McDonald July 27th, 2006 03:30 PM

A) Don't make any sudden moves.

B) Why? is there a bee on me?

I'm guessing "X Files - Fight the Future" on this one, but it is probably wrong since it seems very obvious.

As far as my last post from last November on the one that nobody guessed, I guess I should probably officially close that one out by revealing the it is a quote from "The Brady Bunch Movie"
-Jon

Barry Gribble July 27th, 2006 04:04 PM

fun fun ... but I started a new thread for it... may be too much to have two.

agreed...it would be too complicated. I just needed to kill off what was left hangin from last autumn....however, if I got it right (x files)...ain't nobody stealin' my thunder. I just won't repost to continue the thread, and instead jump the post to divert over to your new thread.
-Jon

Cole McDonald July 27th, 2006 05:26 PM

I'm gonna go ahead and spoil it quickly since there's a new thread in town:

Dennis Quaid in "Undercover Blues" One of the most quotable movies ever put to film.

Time for a hint Brian... no takers so far.

Brian Doyle July 28th, 2006 06:22 PM

IT's in black and white. And has a nice link to the movie with the quote I answered.

Okay, this one has been buggin' me....because I kept thinking of Streets of Fire...remember that one? I used to manage a video store in the 80's and watched it more than was good for me.....but I my nephew just lent me Sin City the other day, and the B&W (& Mickey) got me hankerin' to watch Rumble Fish, which I also watched alot back in the day (something about Diane Lane I guess)...so after watching it again, (after many years), I come to two conclusions about Rumble Fish...

#1 - now that I am almost 40, it just doesn't have the same 'coming of age' personal angst impact that it did when I was young.

#2. I am fairly confident that it is the the answer to your riddle.

-Jon

Brian Doyle July 29th, 2006 02:27 AM

Your right!
I'm 28 and it still works for me. It was on HBO or something the other night. I love the fight in the opening. West side story gone bad. Also it's sad to think how great micky was and could have been when watching this and pope.

You're turn for a quote.

Jonathan Jones July 29th, 2006 12:38 PM

Right on. Here's an easy one.

"...eroding.....EROOOODDDDIIIING!"

Brian Doyle July 29th, 2006 04:54 PM

Real shot in the dark here....

Short Circuit???

Nope. Try again. It is from a comedy from the last couple of years. The scene from which this line is quoted is hilariously comical. I almost peed my pants when I first saw it.
