Sounds like Peter Sellers as Clouseau, but it's hard to say which movie.
Pink Panther, which one I'm not sure.
The boys from Melbourne almost have the mystery sol-ved! If you don't want to guess which one, we could just pass it on to one of you.
The Pink Panther Strikes Again
Not quite, but close enough for me! Take it, Eric!
I guessed based on the synopsis that read "Charles Dreyfus escapes from the mental asylum and tries to kill Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau." Oh well. Here goes-
"It's their place, Mac. They have a right to do what they want with it. You can't eat scenery. Cheers!" |
Holy crap Eric! I didn't know you were there! What's up neighbor?
Hint #2-
"Any beach that takes your fancy, anywhere in the world, I'll get for you". |
OK, 3's a charm-
"The Happer Institute, I like that, it says it all." |
K, time's up. Local Hero, a 1984 movie, Burt Lancaster, Peter Riegert.
Next one- "He had simply written down music already finished, in his head!" |
Amadeus?
I love that flick. |
Well done. Your move.
"Why? I came into this game for adventure - go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's trouble, a man alone."
The line was spoken by Robert De Niro.
Hmm, could it be... Brazil?
Sure is... your turn.
Okay, this one's probably too easy... but I've had this quote in my head ever since I saw it for the umpteenth time a few weeks ago. Figured the only way to exorcize it is to deliver it here. So have at it:
"Now, is you is, or is you ain't, my constituency? Ah repeat... is you is, or is you ain't, my constituency?" |
I saw this two nights ago! O Brother Where Art Thou! Fantastic music. Clooney practiced his singing voice for months only to have it dubbed over in the final cut anyway.
Forty minutes! I knew it wouldn't take long. All yours, Ben!
great movie--
"You met me at a very strange time in my life." |
Oh come on people! Here's a hint: The actor who says it was in The Illusionist and grew up in Columbia MD.
Fight Club?
Right on! Your move...
Sorry guys... been in production all week. Here you go:
"TV... it changed the way we think -- forever. The first time they stopped the game because they had to cut to a commercial was the end of it. " |
The running man ?
Nope. About a decade off.
The line was delivered by Al Pacino.
Any given sunday?
That's the one... your turn.
Ok, in the spirit of the last quote, I'm going to break a rule. I'm going to quote instead from a TV show that changed the way I think.
"What is truth? Tell me if you think you know... and I will not believe you." |
"the x-files" ?
Its not, but that was an excellent guess.
I'll drop the clue this is an animation. |
The Simpsons?
I didn't make it that easy!
Yeah, OK, well I'm out of animated TV shows that I know anything about, so I'll sit back and watch :0. But I really heard it in Homer's voice as I read it.
Sorry Barry, not how I meant it. Simpsons is the defining animated show for more than a decade, theres virtually nothing they haven't done. I knew if I quoted from them it would be guessed in about 10 seconds. I hope I've not made this too obscure.
One more hint and if it hasn't been guessed tomorrow I'll try a quote from a movie!
It was made into a live action movie released last year, where they discarded everything except the charectar names. Animated series. "What is truth? Tell me if you think you know... and I will not believe you." |
Series was, "Aeon Flux"
Without a doubt the most disturbing and subversive program to ever be on after childrens hour in the UK and lead to a movie that discarded every single important aspect. The truth was too obscure, so I'll try lies. A film, the english translation (big hint) has the following... "All words are lies. Pain doesn't lie." "Only pain and suffering will show you who you are." |
About the first hour of this is a gentle sort of what could almost be a simple love story. Its been likened to a John Hughes film up until this point. The rest, rather isn't, in the same way a train wreck is not entirely like a train ride.
I'm quite dissapointed noone got that, I'd have thought a lot of people here would have seen it.
"Audition" (1999) Takashi Miike. One last attempt and then I'll hand the rains over to someone else if noone gets it. "I'm an escaped mental patient with a history of violence." |
