I have no work this week, so I'm just sitting here...lol.

Please no cheating everyone!!

This is a English dialogue movie, but there is a scene where German is spoken. Here is a snippet of the German:

"...und der Ullstein mit der Wurst!"

Bonus point if you can give me the charactors name!

Nick Hiltgen September 2nd, 2005 10:20 PM

young frankenstein?

Christopher C. Murphy September 2nd, 2005 10:28 PM

Nope! Although, I love that film.

Mike Teutsch September 2nd, 2005 11:54 PM

Fantastic Movie.

Well if that isn't a unique way of pushing the rules! :) After this one, lets keep all quotes in English please.

Christopher C. Murphy September 3rd, 2005 07:19 AM

Lol..sorry, I do like pushing rules a little.

This film is a true work of genius, as is all his films.

I'll give a hint:

Even though this film is a work of genius - it was the first time the filmmaker used "something" in his films that had been used in other films for about 13 years. He was late to the game on purpose.

Every single movie uses this "something" now.

I love this game!

Barry Gribble September 3rd, 2005 07:46 AM

Hitchcock? Don't know the film.

Dimitri De Keukelaere September 3rd, 2005 08:09 AM

"the great dictator". It was the first talkie of charlie chaplin. the talkies started in the late twenties I think and chaplin had problems with this as with other silent era actors. I believe the character who says the "german words"( actually the sentence in german doesn't make sense) is Hynkel or something.

if you think chaplin is a genius check out "buster keaton" somewhat a forgotten one in the silent era comedy figures who I think is even greater than chaplin.

Alfred Okocha September 3rd, 2005 10:11 AM

"der blitz ist an der flachmatuche" is another fake German line.. That one is from Top secret though and not that serious. A really funny movie though!!

Christopher C. Murphy September 3rd, 2005 01:24 PM

Dimitri is (as we say in New Hampshire) the winah!

Dimitri De Keukelaere September 3rd, 2005 02:30 PM

ok here it goes

"I'm not an animal"

Alfred Okocha September 3rd, 2005 02:35 PM

The elephant man.. ( a wild shot in the dark since I haven't seen it for ages..)

Dimitri De Keukelaere September 3rd, 2005 04:08 PM

also in the elephant man but my quote is from a different movie :-) sorry :-)

Nick Vaughan September 3rd, 2005 06:18 PM

The Great Dictator?

Nick Vaughan September 3rd, 2005 06:21 PM

Raging Bull!

And I guess I acidentally went to the second to last page last time...someone already got The Great Dictator.

Dimitri De Keukelaere September 4th, 2005 06:40 AM

that's correct Nick, your turn :-)

Nick Vaughan September 4th, 2005 08:53 AM

Ok, here's a tasty one.

"You give me powders, pills, baths, injections, enemas; when all I need is love."

Rob Lohman September 4th, 2005 09:07 AM

The Bridge On The River Kwai?

Nick Vaughan September 4th, 2005 10:46 AM

That's it. Your turn.

Rob Lohman September 4th, 2005 02:45 PM

Well, here goes:

"You're a peanut butter man now, eh, sir?"

"Yes, I believe I am."

Dylan Couper September 4th, 2005 03:24 PM

I think it is Meet Joe Black.
Wasn't that one of your favorite movies too Rob?

Rob Lohman September 5th, 2005 06:14 AM

Correct and correct. It IS my favorite movie, heh.

Dylan Couper September 5th, 2005 05:34 PM

Okaaay....

Here goes:

A: Women pay me to pleasure them.
B: How did you get that job?
A: I sort of fell into it.
B: I'm going to kill my guidance counselor!

I'm gonna guess "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo"

Yup, you got it.

I actually wanted to quote Deuce Bigolow: European Gigolo, because our own Rob Lohman did some extra work in it, except I haven't seen it because it looks even worse than the first. :)

Your turn.

Rob Lohman September 6th, 2005 06:40 AM

It is actually much more worse than the original (which was kinda funny). And
as far as I can tell it they cut the couple of shots with me in it out of the movie
(there goes my 5 minutes, heh). Went by too fast to be sure though.

Jonathan Jones September 6th, 2005 10:33 AM

Okay...same genre...

"You wanna piece 'a me?"

"I don't want a piece of you. I want the whole thing!"

Someone is going to answer this one pretty quickly.
-Jon

Dimitri De Keukelaere September 6th, 2005 10:37 AM

well if it's the same genre I would guess the one with richard gere where he plays the gigolo, forgot the name

Philip Boyer September 6th, 2005 11:19 AM

The Gere movie is Looking for Mr. Goodbar.

Dimitri De Keukelaere September 6th, 2005 11:31 AM

no it's "american gigolo", I've looked it up

Philip Boyer September 6th, 2005 12:31 PM

I guess I should have looked it up too instead of relying on memory for late 70s/early 80s movies.

Jonathan Jones September 6th, 2005 09:12 PM

Reigning in....the Gere movie is "American Gigolo", but that is not the movie from which I pulled the quote. When I clued "same genre" I wasn't implying theme or content (gigolo) but rather genre as in a comedy - or in this case 'lower-mid-brow comedy'.

This one is still up for grabs. Here is a hint....the "actor" who speaks one of the lines in the quote was very likely appearing in the one scene in the only movie he ever appeared in (not positive on this one) - but is one of the most recognizable 'actors' in the movie.

THE PRICE IS WRONG B****!

Happy Gilmore!

Adam sandler and bob barker at a celebrity golf tournament.

Nick takes the prize on that one...I can now understand how the quote lent itself to the belief that it involved sex-for-pay alah Deuce Bigolo -

but nope...

Happy Gilmore it is...one of those really dumb movie that I love and seems to get funnier and funnier every time I watch it...for some reason, his other movies don't strike me that way, but Happy Gilmore has just enough 'what they he**' genuine stupidity as to make it quite endearing (ie: the one-eyed alligator, or the fact that Chubb's hand was grossly over-long - or the fact that someone's imagination would come up with a concept such as "I want Bob Barker to play himself, and I want him to get into a fist fight with the main character....and I want Bob Barker to kick Adam Sandler's a**...) - funny stuff.

Your turn, Nick.
-Jon

Nick Hiltgen September 6th, 2005 11:47 PM

I agree jonathon, here's an easy one. No fair using google.

"But, I never said that he was faking, I never said that."

Shortly after my favorite quote comes up....

Nick Vaughan September 7th, 2005 11:17 AM

Memento. So good.

Nick Hiltgen September 7th, 2005 11:38 AM

yup, shortly after the line-

"ok, what am I doing... oh I'm chasing this guy... nope, he's chasing me"

or "Hmm, I don't feel drunk"

Your turn nick

Nick Vaughan September 8th, 2005 07:54 AM

Here we go!

"Sorry about him, he's dealing with being an inker."

"Oh... you trace."
