Ok, more than 24 hours since Nick checked in, I'm officially yoinking his turn.

The new quote is:

Song:
Hail, hail East Germany
Land of fruit and grape
Land where you'll regret
If you try to escape
No matter if you tunnel under
or take a running jump at the wall
Forget it, the guards will kill you,
if the electrified fence doesn't first.

Oh, I see how it is.

'Top Secret'

I'll take my turn back, thanks.

"Now watch closely, everyone. I'm going to show you how to kill a god. A god of life and death. The trick is not to fear him."

There ya go.

:) The natives get restless fast around these parts...

However, I'm going to have to take your turn away from you AGAIN, cause Princess Mononoke (my second fav Miyazaki film) is a Japanese film, which is against the rules, see page 1. :)
(and even if it isn't I got it right)

Muahahahaha!!!! My turn again!

Dylan Couper September 22nd, 2005 04:49 PM

"There going to get in trouble and Im going to have to shake my ass at somebody to get em out."

Chris Colin Swanson September 22nd, 2005 05:42 PM

I have no clue as to the quote. I haven't gotten any in a while.

Yet Dylan, I take my hat off to you for your taking control after 24 hours and then your great reposte with the Princess Mononoke quote. I may not know many but I do enjoy reading at least one new one a day. This is one native who does get restless.

A: My, my. You've been terrorizing Ms. Blaise again.

B: Expressing my opinion is not a terrorist action.

A: Well, yes, compared to your other choices of expression this year, today's events are quite mild. By the way, Bobby Rictor's gonad retrieval operation went quite well, in case you're interested.

Barry Gribble September 26th, 2005 07:58 AM

Hmmm... the conversation continues...

B: I still maintain that he kicked himself in the balls. I was merely a spectator.

A: The point is Kat -- people perceive you as somewhat ...

B: Tempestuous?

A: No ... I believe "heinous b____" is the term used most often.

Dylan Couper September 26th, 2005 08:52 AM

No idea, how about a year on that one?

Robert Mann Z. September 26th, 2005 09:49 AM

ten things i hate about you...i n-joyed that movie...

Barry Gribble September 26th, 2005 10:48 AM

All you Robert....

Was it the second part that gave it to you, or had you not yet seen the first?

Yeah, I really liked that movie too. I am a sucker for classic story's retold in highschool... I really liked Clueless also.

ok here is a quote from a movie i just loved, saw it this year, if you saw this movie you will definatly remember this quote...

They say evil wins when good men fail to act. It should be evil wins.

Nick Vaughan September 27th, 2005 02:29 PM

'Lord of War?

Robert Mann Z. September 27th, 2005 04:43 PM

great job Nick take it away

Nick Vaughan September 28th, 2005 10:34 AM

Thanks.

"Thank God. I'm glad I weren't on fire - I would've burned to death. All you've got is one button undone."

This one could be kind of difficult.

Michael Rowe September 28th, 2005 03:58 PM

The Last Picture Show....?

Nick Vaughan September 29th, 2005 08:49 AM

Very good, your turn!

Michael Rowe September 29th, 2005 10:48 AM

"Am I supposed to spend the rest of my life dreaming what I could have been?"

Good luck!

Barry Gribble October 2nd, 2005 09:19 PM

OK... not even any guesses... can you give us another clue?

Michael Rowe October 3rd, 2005 03:36 PM

clue

Here are some lines by the same actor which immediately precede the original quote:

"I'm a filmmaker, that's all I am. I don't know what else to do. What the hell do they think I'm gonna do? Blow all the bridges if the Red Army comes invading Manhattan? Jesus, I can't even get a job at a goddamn film equipment store....nothing."

Not sure if I'm giving too much away here, but as it's been up here a few days with no successful guesses maybe this will help move things along....

Cheers~

Mike

Chris Hurd October 4th, 2005 05:41 AM

Sounds to me like Woody Allen. Stardust Memories?

Chris Hurd October 5th, 2005 10:25 AM

Must... have... closure!

Michael Rowe October 5th, 2005 11:16 AM

closure

That would be Robert De Niro as David Merrill in 'Guilty By Suspicion'.

There ya go!

Barry Gribble October 5th, 2005 03:59 PM

I feel better.

Chris Hurd October 6th, 2005 11:59 AM

Well it's still your turn Michael -- hit us with another one!

Doug Boze October 7th, 2005 10:16 PM

Has the game stalled?

I've been reading these quotes and it seems I'm out of the loop for these gen-Xer flicks.

Doug

Chris Hurd October 7th, 2005 11:11 PM

Well, Michael's delay here has just cost him his turn. I'll kick-start this thing back up with an easy one... way too easy:

"You buy a bag of peanuts in this town, they write a song about ya."

Brian Duke October 7th, 2005 11:39 PM

Citizen Kane.. =)

Brian Duke October 7th, 2005 11:41 PM

My turn:

"Are those contacts? I would die for that color. I'm stuck with hazel."

Good luck hehe

Barry Gribble October 8th, 2005 12:30 AM

Oh I hate that... I can hear the words in my head, and can't put the movie on them.... ick. I liked it though.

Barry Gribble October 10th, 2005 02:31 PM

Any hints Brian?

The glaciers are moving faster than this thread. It is dying!!!!! How about a time limit?

Barry Gribble October 13th, 2005 06:02 PM

Yeah, I agree... Brian, you have stumped us... how about give the answer and bring on another quote?

Dylan Couper October 16th, 2005 01:20 PM

GAME TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED!

Yup, the movie quote game has wound itself out.

I'm wondering if lack of interest is due to the size of the thread, and maybe we should start another from scratch? Or maybe we should just lock it for a few weeks and then re-introduce it.

Thoughs?

I think it is simply that people are posting more obscure quotes, trying to stump everyone, and then not monitoring it and posting hints as necessary. The last hint on the current quote came three days ago. So, if your are going to play, you have to monitor the game constantly.

Second suggestion would be to use the quote not to try to stump everyone, but just to post memorable quotes that we will enjoy recalling. That is when the game was fun. You know,"That is from XXXX movie, I loved that movie!"

Just my two cents.

Mike
