YAY! One I know.

It's Finding Nemo isn't it?

Ummmm........

Ok I got one.

"Now. You're looking at now sir. Everything that happens now, is happening now."

Mark Bournes December 21st, 2007 08:19 AM

spaceballs!

Casey Krugman December 21st, 2007 10:32 AM

Spaceballs...

What Happened to then?

Mark its your turn for a quote

Mark Bournes December 21st, 2007 10:46 AM

In the spirit of the Holidays....

Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, kiss my a$$. Kiss his a$$. Kiss your a$$. Happy Hanukkah.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

one of my favorite holiday movies (yeah, I know, pretty twisted....)

Chris Hurd December 21st, 2007 02:12 PM

The ball is in your court Edward... next quote?

Mark Bournes December 22nd, 2007 10:59 AM

Yes Christmas Vacation

Casey Krugman December 27th, 2007 02:27 PM

Once again...

Your turn for a quote mark...

Chris Hurd December 27th, 2007 04:41 PM

Barry Gribble's thread formerly known as "Movie Quote Game Redux" has been merged with Dylan Couper's original "Movie Quote Game" thread. Edward has ceded his winning entry to Mark, who has now ceded it to me, since I'm just making up rules as we go along. Stand by...

Chris Hurd December 27th, 2007 05:06 PM

"I am a dream to some... and a nightmare to others!"

Paul Tauger December 27th, 2007 05:33 PM

Merlin in Excalibur?

Chris Hurd December 27th, 2007 07:08 PM

Bingo! I knew that wouldn't take long. Your turn, Paul...

Paul Tauger December 27th, 2007 07:28 PM

Okay, this is from one of my favorite movies and, perhaps, a bit too obscure:

"I never heard tell it was against the law for any citizen to do his utmost to prevent a crime from being committed, which is exactly what he did. But maybe you'll tell me it's my duty to tell the town all about it, not to hush it up. You know what'll happen then."

Dave Robinson December 28th, 2007 06:30 AM

Easy! To Kill a Mocking Bird!

Good film too!

Ok, ummmm........ All of mine so far have been to easy so I'll pick something I think will be a little trickier.

"I can't touch you as a man could. But I can show you things that I alone have seen."

Hugh DiMauro December 30th, 2007 12:38 PM

I Got It!

Demon Seed!

I want a challenge! :)

Chris Hurd December 31st, 2007 11:19 PM

Yeah, Hugh! You're up!

And don't make it something so obviously simple as "Get your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!"

Hugh DiMauro January 1st, 2008 11:43 AM

Okay... Here Goes... But First...

I want to make sure I get the line perfect so give me until I return home to check the exact wording in order to give you heroes a fair shake. Capisce?

From the Simpsons episode, "A Fish Called Selma," Troy McClure sings it in the musical, "Stop the Planet of the Apes, I Want To Get Off!".

Quote:

Ape: Help, the human's about to escape.
Troy: Get your paws off me, you dirty ape.
Ape: [gasping] He can talk!

Apes: [in unison, rythmed] He can talk
He can talk
He can talk
He can talk
He can talk
He can talk

Troy: [singing] I can siiiiiing!

[funky beat of "Rock Me Amadeus" starts playing]

Female Nurse Ape: Ooh, help me Dr. Zaius!
Apes: [in unison] Dr. Zaius, Dr. Zaius
Dr. Zaius, Dr. Zaius
Dr. Zaius, Dr. Zaius
Oh... Dr. Zaius
Ape: Dr. Zaius, Dr. Zaius.

Troy: What's wrong with me?
Zaius: I think you're crazy.
Troy: Want a second opinion.
Zaius: You're also lazy.

Apes: [in unison] Dr. Zaius, Dr. Zaius
Dr. Zaius, Dr. Zaius
Dr. Zaius, Dr. Zaius

[one ape starts breakdancing]

Oh... Dr. Zaius
Ape: Dr. Zaius, Dr. Zaius.

Troy: Can I play the piano anymore?
Zaius: Of course you can.
Troy: Well I couldn't before!

[plays piano]

"You'll Never Make a Monkey Out of Me"

Troy: [singing] I hate every ape I see
From chimpan-a to chimpan-zee
No, you'll never make a monkey out of me

Oh my God, I was wrong
It was Earth all along

You've finally made a monkey
Apes: Yes, we've finally made a monkey
Troy: Yes, you've finally made a monkey out of me
Apes: Yes, we've finally made a monkey out of you

Troy: I love you, Dr. Zaius!
Sorry. Couldn't resist.

Chris Hurd January 1st, 2008 05:26 PM

Ah yes... back when The Simpsons used to have good writers. Thanks Paul, that was much better and definitely more entertaining than the Chuck Heston version I had been thinking of.

Hugh DiMauro January 1st, 2008 10:30 PM

Okay, Here Goes!

“Get down on your knees and pray to God for help… and then maybe everything will work out fine? Garbage. Not where I come from. You can wear off your knees praying to God for heat in a cold water flat in February, and icicles can grow from your upraised palms. If you’re freezing to death you burn the furniture you set fire to the building but you get off your knees!”

The Poseiden Adventure, Gene Hackman playing "Reverend Scott"

Dave Robinson January 2nd, 2008 11:42 AM

Are mine just far too easy?

Paul Tauger January 2nd, 2008 12:42 PM

Let's just say that my job involves research and I'm pretty good at it.

Here's one (should be easy):

"Are all American officers so ill-mannered?"

"Yeah, about 99 percent."

Dale Stoltzfus January 2nd, 2008 12:44 PM

Oh! I know that one! It's The Great Escape. Awesome movie, BTW.

You got it! Your turn.

Dale Stoltzfus January 2nd, 2008 02:31 PM

Ok, here's one from a more-or-less obscurish movie (I think), but an awesome one all the same. See if anyone gets it.

Character 1: "It's alright honey, Bumpa didn't mean it..."
'Bumpa': "Yes Bumpa did mean it - he meant every d*mn word of it!"

Paul Tauger January 2nd, 2008 04:44 PM

I think I got it -- this one was tough (you could even say it was a hobgoblin of a quote). I'll wait, though, and see if someone can find it.

Sean Skube January 2nd, 2008 04:54 PM

"hobgoblin of a quote". sneaking hints, huh.
I had to look it up, so I won't give it away, but this isn't going to be an easy one for most. I've never seen it myself.

Jonathan Jones January 2nd, 2008 10:19 PM

Yeah, well I did. It must have been YEARS ago...I can't even remember, but AMC ran it several times one weekend when I was crashing on my Mom's couch, and I must have watched it at least 3 times in 2 days. I can even remember some of the lyrics of the little duet (I think it was in a soda shop) with Fabian and the daughter.

Anyway, your quote is from "Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation."

-Jon

Dale Stoltzfus January 3rd, 2008 08:26 AM

Mr. Jones, you are correct! And for those Jimmy Stewart fans who haven't seen this movie, do it. It's great.

Jonathan Jones January 5th, 2008 04:18 AM

Okay gang, so here goes the next quote. Have at it:
----------
Lawyer: "Um, your honor? I object.... that this guy also broke my apartment to sh*t.

Defendant: What?

Lawyer: And you know what else? I object that he's not gonna have any money to pay me after he pays back all the money he stole from the hospital!"
----------

That's all I'm saying since any more would be a dead giveaway.

If you saw this movie, it should be a very easy quote, but it also flew under the radar when released so it may not be all that well known.

-Jon

Paul Tauger January 5th, 2008 01:20 PM

This one was easy, but I'll wait a few hours to see if anyone else gets it.

Chris Hurd January 6th, 2008 10:03 AM

Looks like you'll have to take it, Paul!

It is indeed. Your turn to drive, Paul.

-Jon

Paul Tauger January 6th, 2008 02:01 PM

Okay. There are lots of good quotes from this one, but I don't want to make it too easy. Here are two:

"My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives."

"My mind is aglow with whirling, transient nodes of thought careening through a cosmic vapor of invention. "

Chris Hurd January 6th, 2008 07:35 PM

Just a wild guess, are those from Being John Malkovich?

Nope, sorry. If no one gets it by tonight, I'll include another quote or two.
