Re: Ceremony on the lake front

Hi Robert, liked your use of natural audio again.

One random comment: I really like your locked off tripod shots, free of the swaying that monopods always have -- interview with the couple,...

Re: My first 5 minute trailer in a while

Hey Robert,

A couple of things I found inspirational, because of how different they are to what I normally do:

-- shot from the back of the aisle during processional was epic. Love that...

Re: Feedback Wanted: Same Day Edit and Highlight Film

Hey Kyle, great work, and definitely your SDE puts mine to shame. I think your work is at a level where it's hard to say how it could get much better.

Particularly liked the speed of your slides....

Re: My First Wedding - would love your feedback!

Charming video, Mitch. Wish I could consistently produce work like yours.

The things I particularly took note of -- loved what you did with the shoes, and thought your static portrait shots of the...

Re: Advice on doing a Marry-oke?

I've never done a marryoke. Done a few music videos though.

For what it's worth:

-- I think an iPhone or iPad with the song might be useful, so people can sing in time to it, can dance to it,...

Re: Grading with cinematic look. Need your advice

Hey Marcus, hard to say. Looking at the Still Motion examples, I think most were very light grading, with most of the work done by picture profile in camera and by the lens! Not sure there's much...

How important is the FS700, and slow motion in general, for weddings?

The thoughts I'm having include:

-- Some (most?) of the highest priced videographers in the world are just using 5DMk3 or C100 cameras, and no slow motion at all. You don't need slow mo to shoot...

Re: Hong Kong Wedding Highlights

Hey Frank, check out this thread: http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/wedding-event-videography-techniques/525138-sensor-damage.html

One thing to mention is that I've had this camera body since the Mk3...

Re: Feedback on my work.

Hey Travis, if you find a better place than here... or any other place period... let me know!

By the way, it's probably better if you post in the "Wedding samples" section.

Some random comments...

Re: Hong Kong Wedding Highlights

Hey Luke, that cake shot with lens flare was amazing, though I feel for your sensor (having had mine recently damaged by DJ lights -- $1577 to replace in a Mk3). I'm not sure, but maybe that sort of...

Re: Engagement Teaser

Hey Alan, maybe overexposed in the shot with the white pillars when they're walking, since you lose detail there. You always seem to get tough shooting conditions! -- like white weddings on rooftops,...

Re: Irish wedding

Thanks for the comments, everyone.

Chris, yes, I'm of Asian descent. Born in Australia though, and don't speak any other language than English (though I can read some Latin and ancient Greek).

I posted a 15-minute of this a while back, but here's the hopefully more polished highlights version. Any comments/criticism of course very welcome....

Re: Mounting 2 cameras on one tripod

In terms of setup time, I spend some time adjusting the distance of the heads at the start of the video, but this isn't necessary -- you could just leave them fixed in whatever position is preferred....

Re: Mounting 2 cameras on one tripod

Hi Roger, there's definitely some fiddling required with the Manfrotto arm, but I normally don't detach the heads from mine -- just leave them permanently attached.

Ok, here's a quick and nasty...

Re: Need your critiques again

Hey Alan,

Random comments:

-- 0:20: loved the close-up of pendant, but I think some sort of blemish removal is worth considering, if you have the time
-- 0:25: the four-screen shot is really...

Re: Mounting 2 cameras on one tripod

Hey Roger, the picture Jeff posted is the accessory that I use. Re the heads, you supply your own; it doesn't come with them. So, you're quite able to use a head that gives better panning ability.

Re: gopro 4 with 3 axis stabilisers

Not that I've noticed, but you've made me worried now! I'll do a test and post a video. I've never panned it aggressively or anything like that.

Re: gopro 4 with 3 axis stabilisers

Here's something I occasionally use: Manfrotto 131DDB Replacement for Manfrotto 3153B | B&H Photo

Mounts two fluid heads on top of a bar on top of the tripod, so you can pan each one independently.

Re: Olympus recorders dying - need replacements

So, just for the record, it looks like this will be "positive bias".
