Re: Filming duration

Easiest way to film (and edit) with two DSLRs:

-- Designate one camera the main coverage cam. So, for ceremony, this might be placed in the aisle. Make it wide and locked off. Most of the time,...

Re: Lily, your personal unmanned drone

So, you seemingly throw it in the air to activate it, and the demo video also shows the Lily landing on someone's hand.

Makes me curious: what happens if your hand or your face gets struck by...

Re: Wedding Nightmares. Literally!

For some reason, I don't have wedding nightmares. Might be something to do with the fact I often get little sleep the night before.

On the actual day, there are things I say to myself that keep...

Re: Guard SD cards with your life!

A little off-topic, but one thing that unnerves me about CF cards is the little holes. What if you got bits of dirt in there, then you bent the locking pins when you inserted the card into...

Re: Exposure flicker fix?

Out of interest, could these programs be used to smooth out an aperture change? (I mainly use DSLRs that click in 1/3 stop increments rather than a smooth iris wheel change.)

Re: My Venue Speeches Recorder Solution - Non Wireless

Thanks very much for posting that, Clive. That's a brilliant solution. I think it's better than anything suggested in the long thread we had on the subject...

Re: High End Wedding Websites

No idea about those sites, but Ray Roman has said he gets most of his work from referrals from wedding planners. Presumably high-end American weddings all have wedding planners?

Re: Fireworks

Hey Peter, that sounds pretty good to me, but if you're able to manage without the lights you'll get the flicker of the fireworks on people's faces.

Maybe something like: extreme wide angle...

Re: Recommended shoes?

Just wanted to mention that the main problem with these ones (after having worn them for a few weddings) is that they're not cushiony enough, but perhaps that's something you can fix with memory foam...

How does Premiere handle off frame rates?

So, this mystifies me. I've done a few tests, but I'm still not sure what's going on and was wondering if someone actually knew. I'm having trouble finding info online.

Say I create a 25fps...

Re: Getting Back into the game...need advice

James, you do amazing work. And the thing is -- I'm sure you could shoot an amazing wedding on a smartphone or a GoPro if you had to. The operator matters more than the camera.

Admittedly, both a...

Re: Getting Back into the game...need advice

Hey Michael, I guess what I'd want to add is that better cameras are always around the corner, and prices are always dropping on existing cameras. The longer you can hold off before buying anything,...

Re: How Do You Choose to Shoot/Edit Reception Dancing?

Hey Ian,

I basically use your methods "3" (edit to music) and "4" (continuous songs). It depends on the client.

I prefer to do "3" when I have the option, because this means I'm not limited to...

Re: Closed Captioning?

Ian, that video was awesome. Not only the images themselves, but how well you stitched the audio together to tell a story and how well the images complemented the audio.

Out of interest -- was...

Re: Getting Back into the game...need advice

Hi Michael, first thought -- save your money, use the DVX! As long as you have a light to get you through the reception, and are happy to work with tape, there's nothing wrong with that camera.

Remote control for Canon DSLRs?

The problem I'm trying to solve is this: I'd like to be able to fly a Steadicam Merlin and adjust focus at the same time, perhaps with a remote control attached to the handle of the Merlin. The unit...

Re: Closed Captioning?

You'll likely need specialist software or pay someone to do it. The basic problem is timing the text in according to how fast something is being said, so it pops on the screen when they start saying...

Re: Delivery via Jump / Flash Drive Problems
