Re: tekst has jagged edges

Which font is it?
Do all fonts do this?

These are the important questions to answer, firstly. Some work better than others. Some are not even truetype and/or may not be working correctly with...

Re: What can the 70D do? You'd be surprised!

70D is pretty much the same in video terms as the 60D isn't it?
Either way they're not 13stop super machines. It's nice to remember that you can get good video out of such cameras with some...

Re: Serious competition for the BMPCC

Pre ordering any consumer product is generally ill advised.

Re: Just got a great 4k prototype kamera!

I would like this forK camera if it were sixtypee. I find I need that many pees these days. Someone told me that forK is already having two thousand pees! But only down the side of the forK. I...

Re: Affordable High Speed Video Camera

Your friends' sounds very interesting.
I couldn't find his target specs. Do you know what they are?
I just want something that behaves like a video camera (even if all it does is HS); shoots a...

Re: Affordable High Speed Video Camera

This does seem exactly like an industrial inspection/ scientific camera (like this one (http://www.alliedvisiontec.com/emea/products/cameras/camera-link/bonito.html)) Maybe the price is the big...

Re: Sony NEX-FS700R announced!

I think all the FS700s I've seen for sale (U, E etc) have been '4K ready', saying they're updated and ready for an external recorder. (at least I think that's what they're saying)
So presumably...

Re: Pocket camera – first day, first impressions...

Yeah. Thinking I could probably use some examples in case any one asked I tried to find some in the recent footage going around. Haven't been able to yet. Not sure what I saw previously. It's...

Re: Pocket camera – first day, first impressions...

Try to create some moire (I assume that's what it is)
On a Canon APS-C I find it mild enough to miss when just fooling around, even though it crops up a lot.
On some early BMPCs footage you don't...

Re: What got fixed?

This is getting kind of silly though. The price point now is low enough to get down to a, let's say, more casual user. SSDs are getting cheap, but not that cheap. Neither are portable drives and...

Re: RED DRAGON footage released

Impressive numbers. It'll be interesting to see if it'll unseat the Alexa as the old-school DoP fave though.

It's quite...flat looking in that stuff. Which is fine. I'm sure other things can be...

The All-in-one recorder question

I do this gig occasionally where I record musos just singing and playing a guitar or something and I've got a great FR2-LE and mics for the job. I either switch it between a stereo set up or a two...

Re: Sweeps, Swooshes, Hits

It's a bit of a crap shoot to find stuff but have you tried the free sound project?

Freesound.org - Freesound.org (http://www.freesound.org/)

As mentioned, you can make this sort of thing with...

Re: NEW!! FlowCam 5 Digital Stabilizer (not MOVI)

Ok, just to be Mr Tediouspants, I am going to have to wonder what monopod footage people are watching here. The guy did a good job, but every little twitch and shake is going straight into his shot,...

Re: NEW!! FlowCam 5 Digital Stabilizer (not MOVI)

James: I'm not that concerned really. It just seems like such a nasty reception to something that is a heck of a lot cheaper than the previous toast of the interwebs (even if there are a few other...

Re: NEW!! FlowCam 5 Digital Stabilizer (not MOVI)

Is this a parody thread and I'm just missing the joke?

The MOVI comes out for $15 grand or whatever and everyone says "Just wait until China gets a hold of it. They'll have one out for $7000!"

Re: Magic Lantern unlocks Canon 5D to shoot 14 bit raw via liveview

Cheers Ted

I've got a 60D myself. I can think of a few 7D owners who'd be curious too (it's also interesting to see if its weird architecture throws up any more problems for them in this area)

Re: Magic Lantern unlocks Canon 5D to shoot 14 bit raw via liveview

I know they're probably wanting to get things to a certain point before they branch out to different models. But is there some insider talk on how this might work with some of the crop sensor range?...

Re: DJI Phantom Shot down in Taksim Square

They shoot it down to stop it filming (presumably) then they let them have it back with footage intact?
These guys don't know how to do this authoritarian government thing properly.

Re: Third BMPCC Test footage

It's rather lovely isn't it. At 1600 mostly too, apparently. I'm quite impressed that in the really low light situations the codec isn't turning things to mush, by the looks.
All they need to do...

Is that on a CRT TV?
also, are you playing it straight from the camera? (sounds like it)

Re: Magic Lantern unlocks Canon 5D to shoot 14 bit raw via liveview

Currently it looks like a bunch of raw photos taken quickly, which isn't all that surprising (I would have thought if they found the data stream straight off the sensor, or after it is line skipped...

Re: footage from the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera

For hand held shooting on such a tiny thing this is actually extremely good. Even with IS most DSLRs will get a bit twitchy/jello-y in subtle but annoying ways unless they've got some weight behind...

Re: New from Black Magic Design - 4K Cinema Camera

Touchscreens are not much fun (although isn't the GH2/3 mostly touchscreen driven? I haven't actually had to use it. It seems to be the way things are going). I would dispute that all these things...

Re: New from Black Magic Design - 4K Cinema Camera

Indeed. We can't fuss too hard about form factor when the 5D II/III is still one of the most popular things to shoot on. Clearly vast swathes of people aren't too bothered if the price is right...
