Well, they MIGHT have all that money, or they may just be full of shit (there seems to be a lot of cases of that going around). People like to make things up, and try to hook you, see.

A guy in NYC who I did some work for when he came down here had a gig lined up for me in Houston, but then found out that the client had no money. So, it could be one of those kind of things. They could be rolling in it, or they could be rolling in it.

"LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO REWRITE MY SCRIPT

I wrote a short film based on real events.
I have the crew to film but the story needs structure. Basically I need a script supervisor. "

Also needs, apparently, to find out what job titles actually mean.

I thought we had it bad as crew. I have worked on shows for TLC many times and they pay PAs 8 times this much. I think this person is taking the difference of the real pay for theirself.

"Actress urgently needed on February 18th (Saturday) for shoot in downtown Atlanta. Program for TLC channel airing in Summer at prime time.
Speaking part for interview in character.
30s - 40s white caucasian lady needed.
Apply ASAP!

Compensation: $20 fixed fee. No travel expenses"

I don't really know for sure who set that rate for on-camera people. TLC doesn't really have anything to do with it. It's the production company they hire to produce it. It is odd to think that a production company working for a major network would only pay someone $20 to do it especially when most pay PAs get a minimum of $150 / day. This sounds just like the old if you want the job then it's gonna cost YOU backend fee to me.

See, I didn't read your post carefully. I thought you said "they pay PAs 4 times that". Which would be a lousy PA rate. So, my bad. 160's not bad. I gotta tell you, I've never heard anything good about working for reality TV from the "lower people". . .in Houston, we used to do one of those God-awful court shows called "Texas Justice." Now we do another called "Judge Alex." I know people that've worked on it, and they've got nothing good to say. I actually interviewed for it, never heard back, and found out all the people that were there when I interviewed were fired. Go figure.

The same goes for live TV. I PA'd for animal planet, when they did the Houston dog show last year, got $175 a day, which ain't bad, but it wasn't PAing so much as it was glorffied manual labor (unload truck, build set). I would rather, as a PA, go fetch things, order lunch, etc. Not so much with the lifting and moving of large heavy things.

The moral of the story: stick with movies, commercials, corporate videos.

I see how this shoot will end up. "OK, put the bottle in your shopping cart. We will watch it for you. Just say the lines on the sheet we gave you."

COMMERCIAL EDITOR NEEDED FOR ACTION / SCI-FI INSPIRED SPOT

Reply to: gigs-134360414@craigslist.org
Date: 2006-02-16, 9:49AM EST

An experienced commercial editor is needed to join our team.

Established film/commercial director with agency contacts has organized a professional team (Producer, Cinematographer, Composer and VFX House) to create a web commercial.

All creatives onboard are serious working-professionals in their prospective fields that are donating their time to have this as a portfolio piece. We are looking to add a commercial editor to donate their time for this project as well. We are creating edgy, high quality work and are looking for like-minded individuals to collaborate with.

Ideally, you will have experience editing commercials in the action genre. This spot will need a lot of quick cuts and must be tight. You would need to have your own editing facilities or access to one. Editing platform does not matter, its your work that’s important.

If you are interested, please email us ASAP. Online portfolio link a plus, but not necessary. We will email you rough cut of the spot and more information.

Congrats to this thread, we just broke the 500 post mark.

Although it's kind of sad that there are so many bad job offers out there that we could do it so easily. :)

Here's the deal. I did this before and i hope it wporks for you. On Friday Feb 24 I will be shooting my Truth or Dare porn film. In this we get five guys and three female porn stars in a room and have them play a hardcore game of sexual truth or dare.

We did this last week and had a ball. I need someone with a DV camera willing to come and do the shoot for us. I can not pay this person because we do not have a budget. All money goes to pay the girls. If you are at all interested in doing the shoot and if you have your own DV cmera please get back to us. Be sure to put the word"shooter" as your subject. We really hope to hear from you.
