JVC mini dv/svhs vcr for sale

I have a nearly new jvc hrdvs3u for sale. It is a combo mini-dv/s-vhs vcr. It works perfectly. I am selling it because it is not very compatible with my AVID system. It will work with nearly any other non-linear editor, AVID is just very picky. I would like to sell the unit for $800. It includes a four year MACK warrantee. I would also consider trade. Please email me at patrick_reardon@hotmail.com if you are interested.
Thanks
Patrick

Patrick,
Your profile does not say where you live. It might be helpful to tell people where you are since those that live closest might want to do business with you.

Patrick Reardon March 25th, 2003 01:23 PM

Sorry about that. I live in Athens, GA. I am a tellecom senior at UGA. A local trade/sale would be great but I can ship the item as well if need be. Thanks
Patrick

Might go over a bit better by supplying some info of yourself... Real first/last name, Location maybe for starters?

Matrix Lists Your Opinion

I was playing around eBay and discovered these sellers that will sell you a link for $10 that will place you into a Matrix that will allow you to receive free electronics, e.g. DCRVX2000's and XL-1s'. From my understanding, this is how it works:

You go to this website that will have eBooks for sale, after you buy an ebook, you will be placed in a list of people that will receive free stuff. So if the matrix had 25 people, and you were you enter into the matrix as number 25. The person currently number one will then receive his or her item and the person placed second now becomes number one. This goes on until you become number 1.

This sounds a lot like a pyramid scheme. I guess the only way it is even legal (if it is legal) is that they have circumvented the law by saying that you are actually buying an item (ebook). Ebooks are appropriately priced, ofcourse, so that the 25 people who has prepaid will have accumulated enough money as a whole to buy the item and make profit for the sponsor of the list. For instance, a list for a DCR-VX2000 with a 25 people will require something like a $200 ebook, so in turn these 25 people have raised $5000 to pay for a camera that RETAILS for $2999 which will leave $2001 profit for the matrix sponsor.

The problems are that if the list doesn't fill no one gets anything. Then there is always the question of legality.

What do you guys think? Creative marketing or SCAM? I think this is a scam myself and urge everyone to steer clear. Thanks.

Ken Tanaka March 27th, 2003 03:19 PM

This scheme has been discussed here. It is a pyramid scheme. Stick with a reputable vendor or seller for your gear.

Dylan Couper March 27th, 2003 11:10 PM

Pyramid schemes like this one are still illegal in the US, right?

And it's definitely a pyramid scheme.

Garret Ambrosio March 27th, 2003 11:43 PM

I don't know the exact statute but I think the reason pyramid schemes are illegal is because they consist of people spending money on no hard item or service which in turn makes it illegal because you are buying an ebook this may circumvent the law, I think or they hope. But it sounds way to fishy and fradulent.

Ken Tanaka March 27th, 2003 11:52 PM

Like nearly all such schemes it will probably escape law enforcement action until it collapses...which, of course, is too late. The scheme's managers are mistaken if they think that "ebook" will clear them.

LCD and on-camera light for sale

I have a Nebtek 5.5" LCD. It is in perfect shape and comes with a shoe mount, RCA cable and uses Canon NP style Lith-ion batteries. I bought it from ZGC a few months ago to use with my XL1. It is a really nice monitor, great for interviews or letting other folks see what you are shooting. New it sells for $530. I would like to get $425 for it and I will pay the shipping.

Here is a link to see the monitor at ZGC
http://zgc.com/html/nebtek_5_inch_monitor.html

I also have the little 10 watt shoe mountable Canon light. It also accepts the NP style Lith-ion batteries. It is in new condition and I have the original box. $60 and I pay the shipping.

Good review for Will as a seller on this forum

Everyone,
I just wanted to follow up after buying the Canon light from Will.

I don't want to sound like ebay, but here goes.
Good price, smooth transaction, quick delivery, excellent packaging. Will delivered everything we agreed upon, and I actually got it a lot faster than I thought I would(since I live in Alaska).

Will,
Thanks, much appreciated !
Rgds.,
Dan

Thanks Dan,

I appreciate the kind words. I am not a fan of ebay and always try to sell goods here. It feels more like family.

XL-1 and other goodies for sale....

Recently upgraded to a Panasonic AG-DVX100, so I'm looking to sell my Canon XL1 for $2299, bundled with some other goodies....

Includes:

*XL1 w/ original 16x servo lens
*Canon On-Camera light
*Two extra batteries
*Soft case
*All things that came with the camera originally, including manual, battery charger, small battery, etc.
*Bogen tripod w/ 3130 head

Been used to shoot weddings primarily, along with a few other shoots, including a short film.

Caveats:

*Handle zoom and handle record button do not function properly, however normal zoom rocker and normal record button work perfectly. (very common on used XL1's I hear)
*Will eventually need new heads, although works great right now, as I have tried to preserve the heads by using it only for shooting, instead using an Optura Pi as playback and record for editing purposes.
*As with many DV cameras, sometimes the XL1 has a hard time playing back other DV camera's tapes, and vice versa.

Anyway, wanted to be upfront about all of that, so I don't wind up with one unhappy camper. All and all, it's been a great camera to me, and I hope whoever picks it up will take at least as good care of it as I have.

Thanks....

Todd Mattson
