It offers long term comfort. The weight is distributed off your arm to your hips, etc. The weight is not a strain on the shoulder, but I don't have 100% range of motion. I would not term it overkill. It will allow for much longer shots and a greater range of motion control over the smaller units. It also provides an upgrade path should you replace the GL2 with a larger camera. Your also learning a professional skill set.

Jeff Donald July 18th, 2003 08:16 PM

Sold. Thank You.

Stephen van Vuuren July 19th, 2003 12:12 PM

All has been sold, thanks.

Feedback

Just thought I'd drop a vote of confidence for Michel; he sold me his other vx2000 2 weeks ago and he was great to deal with... buy with confidence.

Jeff Donald July 20th, 2003 05:35 PM

Last chance before it goes to ebay, $1700 plus shipping.

Charles Papert July 21st, 2003 04:30 AM

I'll give a blind endorsement here; anyone thinking about buying a handheld-type stabilizer for their XL1 or similar weighted camera, this is a MUCH better way to go. And if you were already sold on the V-8 and wanted to buy used, you'd be way ahead of the game buying from Jeff than from a random eBay seller.

Jeff, that's a bummer about your shoulder. Hope it heals well, and soon.

(p.s. my Installer issue continues to baffle--have already done an hour on the phone with a freelance Mac troubleshooter to no avail...!)

Andrew Petrie July 21st, 2003 08:20 AM

It's too bad I already have my V16. I could have saved myself a big chunk of change!

Andrew Petrie July 21st, 2003 08:22 AM

Argh, stop tempting me to go out and get another loan. It's not fair (and I need a tripod).

Aaron Rosen July 21st, 2003 10:19 AM

Wish I could afford it right now.

Sam Houchins II July 22nd, 2003 09:07 PM

Hey, the wife says I can buy this :-) How can I get in touch with you directly?
Thanks,
Sam

Jeff Donald July 23rd, 2003 03:06 PM

3D Studio Max For Sale

3D Studio Max R3 for sale. Original software. Includes original manuals, security key, installation codes, original software disk.

This is high end computer animation software. This would be great for someone who want to "get into" computer animation. The original license is "not" transferable.

This retails for over $4000.00.

I'm selling for $2000.00 or best offer.

Call or e-mail with questions. 408-202-2214

David

Mike Rehmus July 29th, 2003 10:17 PM

I'm confused here.

If the license is not transferrable, then you cannot legally sell it and the buyer is getting something that is useless (and illegal) right?

Discreet has just announced 3D studio Max 6 so this is $2,000 of obsolete software to which you cannot legally sell the license.

David, If you cannot legally transfer the license then I don't believe this forum is a good place to attempt the sale.

Robert Knecht Schmidt July 29th, 2003 11:22 PM

$2k seems high for R3, which is not very useful software at this point.

Garret Ambrosio July 30th, 2003 05:23 PM

So basically we are paying for software that cannot be upgraded and supported for the full price at some software resellers for the original version that will include support and upgrades and access to downloadable materials.

Hi Jeff,
I hope this is still available, as I just emailed you (at your registered address here) with some questions. Thanks!

Canon 16X IS II Lens price reduction.....

I thought I had it priced to sell.......

How much do these lenses go for used (20hrs)?

What would be a fair deal?

How about $795.00?

Going....going.....

Gone?

Dylan Couper August 3rd, 2003 04:28 PM

Hard item to sell, since most everyone that owns an XL1(s) has one already.
I watched the Ebay market for these once when I needed an extra one (I bought a 14x manual instead), and the Ebay prices were, ummm.... considerably lower. Like in the $300-$500 range.

Chris Hurd August 3rd, 2003 04:34 PM

Every once in awhile you'll find the owner of an older XL1 who wants to upgrade to this lens. Hang in there. $600 or a bit lower would probably be more appropriate.

Mike Murri August 3rd, 2003 07:06 PM

Thanks for the advice...

I don't need to get rid of it and perhaps I will just buy a body for it and or keep it as a back up. I'm really enjoying my new 16Xmanual, however, and don't think I'll be too excited to use anything else.

Thanks again.....Chris and Dylan.

Lee Filters Matte Box w/ Tiffen ND .06 Grad

This is a new Lee bellows matte box and new Tiffen filter. Both come in there own cases...lens mount, no rods required. Just after getting it I added the Mini35 system which required moving to a Lee photo matte box system to fit my different primes. All the system needs is a Lee adapter ring to fit any Canon XL1 lens. This package is about $465 street price. I'd take $225.

Robbie Smolinsky August 5th, 2003 04:36 PM

Hey,
You've got mail! (at your registered DVinfo Net email address). Thanks!

Jim Giberti August 11th, 2003 12:12 PM

Hey Don...It's the Lee Filters VH85. I probably should have hyped the specifics a little. This is 2 stage, 4mm, one rotating, filter assembly and a fullly collapsable bellows style matte box. It's a quality set up, brand new in a curdora case. Same goes for the Tiffen grad .06. For a single filter it's one of the most practicle, also new and in a curdora case.

It's sitting in the studio closet. It just needs a $39 adapter ring to fit any Canon lens (the system is universal and uses specific rings for different camera setups).

I'll make it $200 for someone looking to move into a pro matte box/filter setup. I know a lot of people start threads about them from time to time, so I'll leave it here until someone finds it and says "oh...that's a killer deal" It really is. Lee took care of me when I realized I needed a different system for the primes. I like to pass along the good deals.

Don Berube August 11th, 2003 12:28 PM

Yeeesh Jim! That is a SUPER SWEET DEAL!

That is the same LEE matte box setup that I did an article on back in 2001
http://noisybrain.com/onloc1_01.html
http://noisybrain.com/onloc1_02.html

This is an excellent value setup for someone who wants a very versatile and *compact* matte box system.

I would definitely buy your LEE VH85, but as you know, I already have one ;-).

Looking very forward to meeting you soon Jim!
