Sold!
|
I am selling this camera only because of it's size. I am shooting in locations such as malls where camera are forbidden and it it too hard to conceal it.
|
I would have, Scott... but I sold it.
Next time! |
Congrats Cosmin. Feels good doesn't it. Now it's onto your new rig. It's going to be fun. See you on homebuiltstabilizers. :)
|
yeap!
It doesn't feel quite that good! It feels like I've lost my baby! :) |
I quite understand but think how new and improved your next rig will be. BTW, let me know by e-mail who the lucky owner of your rig was. You know, european or the west?
|
DVX100?
Will yours fit on the Panasonic DVX100? I know Cavision has a matte box on their website pictured on a DVX100 just wondering if yours will fit this camera too...
|
Pro Mist Filters
I have heard different people mention these types of filters...what are they used for. Somebody told me to get a 1/2 black pro mist filter when I got my new camera.
|
that would be a good question to ask Cavision becasue I have no clue. I do know this matte box is extremely adjustable so it very well may be... but I think an email to them would be better than guessing.
I will see if I can get a quick response out of them. Chris |
These soften your video by just a tad. They are very popular.
|
So Cosmin, what do you have planned for your new rig?
I remember the separation anxiety I experienced when I moved on from each of my early rigs (Model 1, Model 3)--of course, I didn't build them from scratch, so I'm sure it's even harder to wave goodbye in that instance. BTW, you and Charles and others interested should check out the MK-V website after Cinegear is over (this weekend)--the unveiling of their Alien Revolution is touted to be the biggest thing to happen to Steadicam since--well, Steadicam! Essentially it's a 4 lb addition to the rig that self-levels the horizon; no more unwanted roll...and it even lets you turn the rig upside down while keeping the camera level, allowing you to go from high mode to low mode within the shot, or even flying the rig horizontally. Pretty wild stuff. And of course priced like a well-appointed car, but that's not surprising! |
You made me curios about the new "Alien Revolution". I'll sure check it out!
Well, on my first rig I worked and learned about a year and a half. I went back and forth with some ideea and compromise. Now this new rig should be more stright forward to make. On the first stanilezer, for example, I start designing and building parts for a 3A look alike arm. I finished doing something more like the PRO concept... Another thing is that I qind of exagerated with metal thickness and such, just to be sure it will hold. It does hold! Is preaty sturdy, it holds allot of camera weight, but it weights about 22Kg without the camcorder! I want to make a lighter one, even if doesn't hold 8Kg of camercorder. |
Something really worth ehile Charles. Thanks for the tip. Can't wait to see it.
BTW Charles, how come you've never visited our forum, since you last posted (way back), to lend us some of your wisdom in the stabilizing field? We have one steadicam operator ( Constantine, a really big help, I must say) who is a constant member. Just wondered. |
I think the Panasonic uses a different mounting plate for the rods.... I do remember seeing a few different plate models to suit different manufacturers.
|
Hi Annie,
I have a Tiffen black promist2- 72mm filter that I paid $150CDN, that I only used on one shoot about two years ago. I think that the shipping charges from Canada to Athens would be quite high, but let me know if you are interested. -Nori |
Canon GL2 & extras.....
Canon GL2
Canon ZR-1000 Zoom Controller Canon VL10i Video Light Mack 4 year warranty via B&H Canon 58mm UV Filter Azden SG-X Mic Sony 1.7x Tele-Extender (excellent optical quality) Power2000 4500mah battery and Quick Charger - all boxes, manuals receipts...all mint condition....all purchased around Feb/March 2003 $2200 takes all. NYC pickup fine...also PayPal verified. e-mail stevenyc1@aol.com if interested (please no low-ball offers) $2000 for GL2 w/o the extras |
Would you be interested in just selling the Power 2000 battery alone?
|
Ryan, the Power2000 batt isn't an expensive item......I prefer to sell everything in one deal-
I found out there's now a tele-extender available for the Panasonic DVC80 and DVX100 and would like to try the Pan again this time with the extender-but can't justify having both cameras... I'm 100% satisfied with the GL2- but I had a DVX100 not too long ago and got rid of it strictly based on the limited zoom- but the form factor and large LCD were excellent- the video quality was better than my XL1S- so If i could give that model a try again with the extender I'd be really interested....I could be making a mistake but i'm adventurous and love to try new things. |
The Matte box has sold.
Thank you! |
several people have emailed me asking if this wireless mic setup is still available, it is. I have pictures available if anyone is interested.
Chris |
Just a couple questions Steve,
the only thing that falls under the 4 year warranty is the cam itself, correct? does the warranty start after the one year manufacturer or run concurrent? the azden mic, what type is it? i see a SGM-X shotgun on their site, but no SG-X. is this the same mic? |
Trey,
I bought the optional Mack warranty from B&H at time of purchase- I believe it's a 4yr warranty but it might be a 2 year- I'll have to double check on that- I believe it's in addition to the standard mfrs warranty....if someone tells me their interested in all this stuff- I'll dig up the paperwork and check this for certain. The mic is an Azden SGM-X (just checked). It's the lower end mic but an improvement on the stock mic and supposedly better than the Canon DM50 (something like that) I have receipts for all this stuff but hate to dig up the paperwork til someone tells me their definitely interested....everything was purchased at B&H around Feb/March. Thanks for the interest. |
Steve,
This is Trey's dad. We are interested. We are in the market for a GL2 and an XL1S. We live down in Virgina, but might want to run up to New York to take a look at what you have. Tom Perrone http://visualstudios.org |
You are most welcome- e-mail me when you plan to be around these parts.

XL-1 for sale, great deal!
XL-1 for sale, $1800.00, negotiable. I'm looking to buy the HD10.
The XL-1 is four years old, still has about 9 months on the warranty. I used it, roughly, about 750 - 1000 hours (it really didn't get much use outside of shooting, which was sporadic for me--I used a mini-dv deck to post). It includes two batteries, the charger, the microphone, the remote, the MA-300 (I think) XLR/shoulder input (Canon), a Canon XL-1 light with battery (I think this light has been retired, but I've only used it once, literally). And a case, which is soft. It kind of sucks, so that's a freebie. I might even throw in my tripod, which has all new parts, for $100 extra (it's a 4 year old Bogan tripod and originally cost $350). I need to think about the tripod. If you're interested, email me at heath@mpsdigital.com! Serious buyers only! I'll get some photos for you ASAP. heath mcknight |
i bought Cosmins stabilizer and the whole transaction was very good !
i just received the stabilzer and he got the money in advance and everything is fine. when Cosmin sells something else in the future i again would send him the money in advance, you could trust him ! :-) |
Congrats on owning a fine piece of machinery. Hope you enjoy the power of a homebuiltstabilizer :) Just remember one thing - Practice.
|
yeap! practice!
Remember: if it doesn't work or something, is just that you need more practice! :) Oh! And please don't tell them about the fire in the connection box! :) Really Elmar, thanks for giving me credit! |

In case I forgot, any questions, send me an email at heath@mpsdigital.com and don't hesitate to negotiate the price.

$350 shipped in the US, I still have this mic.
|
Good question, Charles, I think I'm afraid to get involved in another forum since I barely have enough time for this one...! I promise I'll check it out when I get back home (I'm out of town on a feature and going from DSL to a 28K dialup connection has taken the wind out of my sails...)
Apparently the Alien Revolution didn't get premiered as expected at Showbiz since it wasn't quite ready. Soon though. |
Wanted: Steadicam JR
Hey, I was wondering if anyone had a steadicam JR to sell. My friend and I have been trying to get one from ebay but are always outbid.
Thanks |
XL1s For Sale - Less then 20 hours
Well guys I bit off more then I can chew with this camera. I love it but it is just too much for my needs. I have less then 20 hours I would say less then 10 hours but I didn't track very well. I have an extra battery I will add the part number later. I have the Tamrac 2248 Camera bag and a generic UV protector.
Asking $3000.00 I have all the original boxes except for the Tamrac bag. Email me if you are interested jrulison@hotmail.com Best, James |
You need to give a lot more details (where did you buy it, when, how, why, what, ect) before you get any interest here.
the buyers here are pretty savy and know what they are doing. |
Just writing to say, the camera and accessories are still for sale, and I'd still prefer to keep them as a package. But I wanted to mention that I'm leaving for Alaska at the beginning of July. The XL-1 is staying home if it doesn't go to a new owner before that. I'm not sure how Chris H. manages that. Do I remove the classified while I'm out of town? While I'll have intermittent access to the web and my email, I won't be able to ship anything. Just thought interested parties should know. Thanks.

Lisa,
No problem just leaving your listing up here while you're away. When do you expect to be back online here to respond to inquiries? |

XL1 and accessories for sale
Hey people,
I'm thinking of selling my XL1 rig, as I'm moving to London, England for a job in a couple of weeks, and if it's not gone before then, well, I don't know what I'll do with it... ebay wastelands? Here's my rig: 1/ Canon XL1 (not XL1s) - NTSC body - 16x IS lens - 2 batteries - charger, cables, remote, microphone, blah blah blah 2/ MA-100 XLR adapter 3/ 14x manual lens 4/ Cavision 4x4 Bellows Matte box, rail system with handgrips 5/ Cavision .6 WA zoom-thru adaptor 72mm threading 6/ misc filters - 4x4 polarizer - 2 UV filters 72mm thread - circular polarizer 72mm thread - ND filter (the one from the 14x lens) 7/ Pelican case I'm thinking C$5900 for the lot, or US$4350 They've served their purpose on a movie I shot, but now moving to a PAL country, have no need for it. Ideally, I would love to trade the NTSC body for a PAL one, but that's a long shot. I'm not terribly interested in breaking this up, as I have no use for leftovers from a canabalized kit. It's of more value for me to keep it for myself than break it up. I'm open to reasonable offers, as I think most people here know what this stuff is costs/worth. I have receipts for all this stuff, and none of it is 'hot.' Any Vancouver people looking for an XL1 rig? /Adrian van der Park |
