A PV-DV702 is a nice little cam. They're cheap right now. Call Leo's on Granville for pricing. Another nice 1 chip cam is the TRV25 (and TRV27). These are last year's models, and have dropped in price. Also try A&B Sound on Seymour & Pender.

Christopher Go April 22nd, 2003 11:10 PM

Hey Thomas, why don't you just buy the focus puller from Cavision? How much do they charge for it?

Dylan Couper April 23rd, 2003 12:35 AM

Keep an eye on the buy and sell. I've seen GL1's pop up there, although the cheapest has bee $1900cdn.

Dylan Couper April 23rd, 2003 12:36 AM

I think it's $500-$600 new.

Frank Granovski April 23rd, 2003 12:42 AM

That big pawn shop in downtown New West usually has used cams. A friend of mine, bought a GL1 there at a good price, which included lots of extras. That was a couple of years back.

Ken Tanaka April 23rd, 2003 01:32 AM

Thomas,
Are you set on the 16x servo? Have you considered the 14x? It doesn't have the servo zoom and would require rods for a matte box. But optically it's pretty much the equivalent of the 16x for all practical purposes and many prefer it's fully-manual iris ring.

I have one for sale if you're interested.

-Ken-

Dylan Couper April 24th, 2003 12:10 AM

Yeah, the 14x manual lens is a WAY better bang for the buck than the 16x lens, if you have the matte box set up with rods allready.

PS I can vouch for Ken's honesty as a seller. Bought a couple expensive toys (including an XL1) from him already and have always been happy!

Luke Gates April 24th, 2003 12:51 AM

$1350....consider your cam sold.............

Thomas Berg Petersen April 24th, 2003 09:18 AM

Dylan,
I was wondering why you think that the 14x is 'WAY' better than the 16x Manual?
I have read Ken's article about them, and it seems that they are both excellent in terms of quality of optics. The 16x has more features which is why it is priced differently, I guess.

Craig Peer April 24th, 2003 09:34 AM

sorry - it is sold.

Dylan Couper April 24th, 2003 10:09 AM

I didn't say it is way better. I said it was "way better bang for the buck". Big difference.
For the serious shooter who is really only interested in the manual functions, both lenses are excellent, as Ken states in his article. However after taxes, the 14x will leave you with an extra $700 or so in your pocket.

Ken Tanaka April 25th, 2003 04:25 PM

James,
Just to make sure that your request is precise, you're looking for an XL1/XL1s COLOR (LCD, FU-500) viewfinder, not a b&w (FU-1000) viewfinder, right?

James Clarke April 25th, 2003 04:50 PM

Yes ken I looking for the Colour view finder not the B&W one

My guess would be installing a larger colour LCD, with the potential of offering a mod service, or self-installation kit.

If my mod works I would be happy to pass on the info on to anyone thats interested.

This lens is available new for $180 + S/H.

Have you considered negotiating the price?

Thanks,

Ron J.

Ryan Krga April 27th, 2003 12:29 PM

I am sorry, I bought it directly from Canon so it was $240 + S/H.

I am now willing to lower the price to $150. (including shipping)

My mistake.

Becoming less firm! :)

How about $700.00 (U.S. Dollars) or best offer?!?! I'll pay for ground shipping if mailed in the U. S. or Canada.

You'll still need to pay in cashier's check or money order.

FWIW, this is an excellent miniDV deck. It's lightweight and very compact. I've used one for over 2 years and never had a glitch with my nle.

For those of you considering buying an inexpensive camera to use as a deck, Ed's giving you a heck of a chance here to upgrade your capabilities and still stay within your budget!

Christopher Go April 28th, 2003 08:51 PM

I completely agree! This is a great deal, I paid close to $1100 for mine. I think you could get $700 easily on eBay should no one want to buy it here so if I was in the market I'd definitely jump on this one.

FS: VX2000 in box

In August of 2002 I purchased a VX2000. Recently I decided I needed some of the additional features of the PD150 and purchased one.

My VX2000 is in PERFECT condition and I still have all of the original documentation, box and packing material.

I wouldn't mind keeping it as a second camera, but if someone is interested in giving me a fair value I would be willing to part with it.

I am located in Fort Worth, TX. Email mike@datalinknet.net if interested.

Christopher Go April 30th, 2003 04:42 AM

Mike, I apologize for not emailing but I wanted to know: about how much are you willing to let it go for?

Mike Murray April 30th, 2003 09:22 AM

A quick search of recently completed items for USED VX2000's shows an average selling price of $2150.00. I would probably be willing to accept that for it. Again I must stress this Camera is in perfect condition. No scratches, etc. Only about 15 hours of continuous use. Includes all orginal box, manuals, packing materials, etc.

Just a thought, here. . .

I went to the Panasonic web site. My intent was to find the web page that described the AG-DV1000 and post it here to help sell the item. Sadly, it's not there.

I also went to the B & H Photo-Video web site. They don't seem to be promoting this device as well.

This is a rock solid device which has been used a little over 50 hours, now. I've been using the AG-DV1000 with my PC set-up which includes Sonic Foundry's Vegas 3.0 and 4.0. This device works well with both software programs. From the looks of things, Panasonic doesn't seem to be making the AG-DV1000 anymore. Instead, it looks like Panasonic will be promoting the AG-DV2000 and their new AG-DV 2500. Both items are great. However, both of these items are well over $1,000.00 (U. S. dollars).

I'm still asking for $700 or best offer for the AG-DV1000.

(Oh yea, the AG-7350 SVHS editing VCR is still for sell too. But that's on another thread. . . )

If you want more information on any of these two devices, please email me. If you would like to talk over the phone, again, email me and I'll email back my phone number. . . and I'll be more than happy to answer any questions.

Regards,

Ted

Bob Benkosky April 30th, 2003 11:48 PM

you want a 3ccd camera for $750...... Wow..... Maybe you can get a really old one for that but I doubt anything new.

Ryan Krga May 1st, 2003 12:04 AM

You can look up on the Sony DCR VX 3. It's the only Hi8 3CCD camera. It runs for about 500 - 600 on Ebay. I've never used one, but I'm sure the quality can't be worse than VSH-C. Check it out.

Bob Benkosky May 1st, 2003 12:05 AM

Yea, I figured there must be an analog 3ccd chip camera that you could afford. That's your best bet most likely.

Dylan Couper May 1st, 2003 12:06 AM

If that's your budget, look for a Canon Optura Pi. It's a single chip camera, but apparently one of the best ever made. ANd you should be able to get a used one for $500-ish.

I don't think you will find even a GL1 for less than $1100.

Bob Benkosky May 1st, 2003 12:10 AM

I searched for that Sony Cam and got nothing.

Dylan Couper May 1st, 2003 12:23 AM

I think you are better off with a newer single chip miniDV camera than an older 3 chip analogue camera.

If you consider going analogue, then check out Canon L1 and L2 cameras. I believe they were 3 chip Hi-8 cameras, with interchangable lenses, as an alternative to a Sony VX3.

Bob Benkosky May 1st, 2003 12:30 AM

I agree about that older Canon L1 and L2. Back inthe day that camera was the shiznit. Ebay has them for CHEAP!!!

I'm not knowledgable about what they improved on the L2 since the L1, but both are on Ebay right now at great prices.
