L.A. - Have HD-100 & Final Cut Studio - Will exchange hours with DP & editor, 1:1
Greetings,
New guy, here. This is my first post. I have HD-100 with Final Cut Studio and will exchange time for an experienced DP & editor; my projects and yours, 1:1 barter. I have a studio in Glendale, reside in Pasadena. Multi-track audio studio time also available for similar exchange. Initial project is sit-down interviews and Huell Howser style (local PBS veteran) walk-about interview for HDTV broadcast. Very soon, a producer reel of a scene for a TV pilot to submit to an executive "angel" at a major studio. This "angel" has the power to greenlight a show. JP jp.productions@sbcglobal.net |

Z1U Tomorrow--New Jersey
Do to a family emergency, I am unable to shoot tomorrow morning in Edison, New Jersey. The pay is 500 dollars and you must have a Z1U. It is for a documentary. There will be probably a total of five minutes shooting, but you have to wait around for the event to occur. I know it is very late but I am praying someone in here can work on short notice. If you can, email me at PeddyZ@gmail.com and send me contact information. I will keep checking back here for most of the day.

Looking for a backup HD100 near Baltimore
Hi all,
I'm doing a shoot in the middle two weeks of June (specifically, the 12-16 and the 19-23), in and near Baltimore, MD, shooting on the HD100. I'm looking for a backup HD100 to have on hand in case there are any problems with mine (I'm not anticipating any, but I haven't used the camera this heavily before, and want to have my bases covered in case anything goes wrong). If there are any HD100 owners in the nearby area who aren't using their cameras during that period, I'd like to see about renting yours for those two weeks. I'd pay a daily flat rate for the camera; if I end up using the camera, the rate would go up substantially. Either way, you'd get paid. I can't afford a rental house rate, especially when it's unlikely I'll have to use the camera, so I'm hoping there are some folks here that can help me out. And yes, I do have production insurance. Please contact me if you have any questions -- keith@fullquiverproductions.com. Thanks, Keith Keith Ward |
Canon GL2, XL1, XL2's in Victoria, BC
Hi. I'm interested in hiring someone with Canon gear to help me do a multicam shoot of a live R&B band one night in early June. I have a GL2 and XL1 so far. That might suffice, but wouldn't mind knowing if there are Canon owners willing to lend their gear and themselves to the cause for a reasonable price. Thanks, Dale.

Am. Actors / Student Actors
Does anyone know where I could go as a good resource to find some amatuer or student actors?
I have about had it with friends and family that are all gung-ho to be in a production and then flake like Kellog's. So NO MORE! I am only putting people in my productions that actually desire to follow through. |

90 Second Film Idea Needed...
I'm having serious trouble developing an idea for a 90 second film.
I came up with an idea, which looked good on paper, went to the trouble of filming it and edited it together. Trouble is, it just doesn't work. After numerous rewrites, and reedits, I just couldn't sucessfully transform the idea into a good 90 second film. Maybe I'm a perfectionist? Maybe the idea just sucked. Maybe the idea just wasn't suited for the 90 second format. Eitherway, it doesn't really bother me too much, because it was my first attempt at making a short film and I learnt a huge amount along the way. Now I need a new idea. Actually, I need to develop the idea, film it, edit it and master it within the next week or so. Yes, I know I'm not going to be getting much sleep anytime soon! Sleep is overrated anyway... Because I don't have my time, I'm very much limited to what I have availible to me. That is: * Location: I live on a mountain so I have trees, bush, it looks beautiful, etc. * Actors: teenagers (male & female), 40 year olds, 70-80 year old * Props: cars, houses (various), musical instruments I can't think of what else to include in the above list, but you get the idea. I would love the story to be a [dark] comedy. My original plot was about toilet paper. I'll leave it at that. If you can offer any words of wisdom, I'd very much appreciate it! Thanks! Chris! |

I guess either everyone else struggles with coming up with good ideas, or those who actually have good ideas want to keep them to themselves!
I have tried looking around the Internet for "stuff", but I couldn't find anything interesting that hasn't already been done to death. I've also tried the old technique of looking through newspapers to find inspiration, but no luck so far. |
I shot a film once about a broom man who stumbles into a forest populated by wheel people, and he eventually was sacrificed on a merry-go-round. Ended up kind of like a dark comedy. The idea came from a list of props I wanted to use in slightly abnormal ways, and then built the story around that.

How about this- Old guy sitting in his favorite chair, enjoying the quiet sounds of birds chirping, as he reads the morning paper. The quiet is shattered by really bad grunge/death metal being played by kids across the street. The guy gets up, totters out the front door, across the street, and off screen into the garage. Terrible sounds of a huge battle! Various objects fly out! Then suddenly it's quiet again. The old man comes tottering out, and back across the street. As he sits back in his chair, the band across the street starts playing Lawrence Welk type music. The old man smiles and says, "Those are some good boys over there..."

Youth Group Donations
My Youth Group is starting some film work this summer...we have a lot of talent but no equipment. Would anyone be interested in donated equipment..old and new to the cause. We want to produce a 6 part series called The Message. Taking the word GOSPEL as an achronym and making shorts out of each one. i.e. G - God created us to be with Him, O - Our sins separate us from God.
Lighting and Camera Equipment are most important for us to get started. Scripts are not yet finished, but the concept is strong and we are ready to get started. |
Or to take Keith's idea. the old guy walks over (all XCU) after the banging in the garage, has a snarl on his face, the kids look scared. then he plugs in and hits a huge nasty powered chord and they all rock!
or, if you have the house in the woods and stick with the TP theme. the guy walks up to the camp latrine, the roll is empty and he goes off in search of a refill, knocking on doors etc. |
How about this -- an old guy goes into Walmart, goes into the dressing stall, and hollers out "Where's the roll!?"
|
The old guy is a polygamist patriarch. The 40 year olds are his brainwashed wives. He's trying to run the male adolescents off the mountain before they can diddle the young girls (who gramps wants to include in his flock).
The boys revolt, tie gramps up and torture him with loud, hideous, discordant heavy metal guitar riffs. Gramps goes deaf, starts bleeding from the ears, but refuses to die. They hack his body to pieces and celebrate their freedom with a three day alcohol, drug and sex filled orgy. Several dvinfo neters are present to document the event, and post their reactions. Bruce Yarock |
That was... sort of disturbing, Bruce. I didn't know you had it in you ;)
|
Keith,
Your story inspired me,and I couldn't imagine comming up with something of equal quality. But while staring blankly at the screen, I heard the word "polygamist" in my brain, and the rest just flowed. My favorite part, however, was about the "dvinfo netters" documenting the event and reporting back. Bruce Yarock |
Teenager and old person sitting across from each other playing cards, looking really serious, like this is the game of all games. Old person lays down their hand, they win, burst into laughter, cheers, other player pouts, complaining that it's not fair, they've only had it a week. The old one tells them to hand it over. Flash of light, they've switched places. Youngin is now in the old body, and the old person is in the young body. Oldie (Now youngy) hops up and runs outside to play.

Thank you all for your ideas, thoughts and suggestions!
Keep them coming! Maybe with need a seperate forum to use as an ideas bank/database? For example, if someone comes up with a random idea sometime, they can post it allowing others to interprete it and make films based on it. Just a thought. |
Aaron,
That's pretty good...shades of "twilight Zone". Bruce S. Yarock |
Ain't no one living down there or what? Or is there no film activity at all going on in Perth...
Hope someone can help me! Thanks |

Help needed for Colon Cancer & UC Documentary in Las Vegas
Hello everyone!
I am in need of some good hearted people that are willing to help (for free as I have no budget) on a documentary about Ulcerative Colitis & Colon Cancer! I personally have UC and want to tell my story as well as the stories of other sufferers and how it has affected them and their loved ones. The everyday struggle, living with it daily and how I plan to overcome my illness through diet and healthy lifestyle changes are the things I want to focus on. I will soon have some footage of my doctor visits and a 15-20 minute piece by me about me and what I have been through =( I also want to interview various sufferers. Raising awareness and prevention about a highly preventable disease and about conditions that are kind of taboo and embarrasing to talk about but necessary. I AM A COMPLETE AMATEUR!! I have 1 camera with the following setup: *Sony HDR-HC1 HDV Camera *Camera mounted Rode VideoMic (on custom made cold shoe mount!) *Beachtek DXA-2s XLR adapter for better sound *Wired lavalier mic The help I need is: *1 cameraman familiar with the Sony HC1 or A1U camera *creative help I basically need help with the preproduction work like writing it and planning it out. This way I have a direction and plan on how to proceed since I am completely new at this. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on a title for the documentary would be helpfull. I am currently thinking of "OurRoadToRecovery" but I am starting to think it is very unoriginal. If anyone has any general suggestions or advice about the documentary I would greatly appreciate it! I am in Las Vegas. Thanks in advance, Charlie |
