Thank you for asking. No, it does not include the FireWire Card - that version costs more. This is the standard version (new, unopened box with warranty) for both Analog and DV camcorders - assuming that you already have an analog capture card or DV IEEE1394 port. You can usually pick up a PCI FireWire card these days for about $50.

UPDATE: Just received it today from another forum user. A big MAHALO from Hawaii :)

Apple's Final Cut Pro 3 in the original box in absolute mint condition- all papers, books/manuals, tutorial CD's & DVD's are included as well as Laminated Keyboard Chart and serial numbers...everything as when purchased new.

This is the Academic version which is the exact same as the "store" version except it's licensed for "single user."

I ended up getting FCP 4 a week later so this FCP3 appears as new!

Upgrade to V4 is $399, so you're "saving" someone $100. But are you even allowed to sell on an academic version? The Academic FCP4 costs $499, so you're even making a $1 "profit". Sorry to be missery-guts, but when us pros pay full price for software, you can't go and sell an academic product for someone to use in a pro environment!

Sale of the product would be governed by the EULA and as far as I'm aware (I'm not a lawyer) the sale of Academic versions is permitted. The purchaser would have to register the sale with Apple and would be governed by the Academic EULA.

So they couldn't use it for any form of commercial work? Right? I checked through the Apple edu site and couldn't see anything that would stop you selling it, but certainly the licence would have to apply to the new user. Still it makes me laugh that the "special offer" is $1 more than the academic price!

Again, I'm not a lawyer, but commercial uses of Academic Versions are generally prohibited.

what is also funny to me, besides selling an academic version of fcp3 for $500...is the fact that there is already an academic version of fcp4...thus by default, that version 3 is already obsolete and it's worth way less.

You can buy the academic version of Final Cut FOUR off ebay for between 350-450.00

You can get a used version of the non-academic FCP 3 for around that same price I think.

If you keep your eye open on eBay you can get an early version (1.2 or 2.0) for 150.00-200.00 and then upgrade to the retail FCP 4 for 300-399.00 so you get to 4.1 for about 450-500 dollars or so.

Well, I finally got some cash together to buy up a camera, and I got a great price on a VX2000 that included a bunch of extras (Century 16:9 lens, Beachtek). It's more than I need considering that I lack other accessories at this point, so I'm selling it to pick up some other stuff. It is in very good shape with no scratches on the glass, and it is a bayonet style mount for the VX2000 and PD150 (not sure, but I'd assume it could fit the new Sony models as well). I used it briefly and it looks terrific!I am asking $550 OBO. I also have a Beachtek DXA-4 that came in this package, but recently I have seen that a DXA-8 would probably serve me better so I am looking to sell this. It is in great shape, I cannot test it since I don't have an XLR mic at the moment, but everything else I bought in this package works perfectly, and this should as well. I am asking $125 OBO on this.

Of course, I am on the market for stuff, so I will consider full and or partial trades (goods + cash), here is what I need:

- REALLY want a Beachtek DXA-8!
- Matte Box/Filter holder that'll fit my VX2000
- Tripod (something around or under $200, preferably Bogen)
- Shotgun Microphone- Sennheiser ME66 or comparable preferred, also looking for accesories to go with it (boom pole, windjammer, etc)
