thanks for your response. I can't seem to find any specs on this unit on the web. However, I found that it is available New for $1500.

can you tell me more about it...is it very similar to the Sony?

thanks.

Paul-
It is in all respects like the dsr-11. It accepts both mini and large dv tapes, plays both dv and dvcam and records to DV. It has fire in/out, s and composite and has 422 deck control that dsr11 lacks. It also has vu meters on the front where the 11 does not. It comes with a stand to display the unit vertically. Check out the panasonic website for all details.
I paid 1500.00 for it.
thanks

May 5th, 2004, 06:42 PM
The dsr-11 will record in DVCAM or DV mode and works in PAL or NTSC. The panasonic wont record DVCAM and is NTSC only (as far as I know).

Matt Stahley
May 5th, 2004, 07:14 PM
The Raynox is reasonable brand new.Probably 1/5th the price of a Century death.

Bill DePalma
May 5th, 2004, 09:49 PM
Paul-
I stated that it will play both dv & dvcam and record to dv. And it will handle both pal and ntsc.
thanks

Whats the difference between the MX5000 and the PVDV953 brand new for $1079 U.S. with english menu? Is the 5000 that much better?

Mike Meyerson
May 6th, 2004, 08:16 AM
Bill...I wasn't trying to say that you were lying or anything like that, I was just giving more info on the dsr-11.

Bill DePalma
May 6th, 2004, 10:48 AM
Mike-
your input is welcome but your information is incorrect , the panasonic handles both pal & ntsc, and I did state that it does not record to dvcam but will play back both formats. I think I tried to be clear about the differences in the 2 units. If one needs the ability to record to DVCAM then the DSR-11 is the deck to buy.
thanks

The difference? The skin tone and the ability to use the all-weather housing. So some knobs and dials may be slightly different.
