Dennis Hingsberg July 20th, 2004, 07:48 AM I have a Canon XL1s (PAL version - 625 lines / 50i, 25fps) for sale and am asking $2600 USD or best offer. It has only ever been used to record on 6 miniDV tapes in total, so less than 6 hours use and all in closed sets and controlled environment.
The unit doesn't have a scratch on it and most of the accessories that come with it including the 16x lens have never been used since it has always been used exclusively with the mini35 lens adapter system. Everything you would get retail with a new XL1s is included: cables, manual, shoulder pad, mic, charger, battery, 16x lens, lens hood, EVF, remote control, etc..
PAL is great for making films or documentary since it shoots at 25fps so it makes it very easy to get 24fps from it - the footage looks great and after some processing and does not look so much like footage you would get shooting NTSC. It is even possible to create 24p footage from this camera just like the DVX creates doing some magic in post. If you are scared of using PAL do not be. You can edit PAL on your PC no different than NTSC - your PC does not care. You will only need to convert it to NTSC when you are ready to burn it to DVD.
Included with the sale I will provide a PC CDROM including free programs and instructions on how to convert PAL to NTSC so you can learn how to burn to NTSC DVD without problems - plus I'm just an email away incase you need assistance.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Contact star @ hy-way.com or call 416-856-7827 and leave a message. Please also feel free to visit my site to see images I've created using this gem!
Thank you for looking,
Dennis
Dylan Couper July 20th, 2004, 09:03 AM Kurt, post your broadcast camera listing in a different thread and you might get luckier. There are always forum members looking to step up to bigger gear.
Jean-Philippe Archibald July 20th, 2004, 09:27 AM Hi Kurt,
I am sorry I don't need to buy a GL1 at this moment... But my VL-10li light bulb just blow up and I was looking for a replacement... Do you want to sell your spare bulb separatly?
Stephen Birdsong July 20th, 2004, 09:48 AM My apologies...
I have no website, I just built that simple little page to sell the lens and found a free provider to host the page. I didnt do much research on the web space provider.
Im hosting off my machine as of now:

Mike Rinkunas July 20th, 2004, 01:24 PM Bernard,
Thank you very much for your reply. I am interested in your camera, but given our current projects specific guildlines, a camera with the MA series audio adapter is needed since both tripod and off the shoulder shooting are required, i must decline.
~Mike
Andrew Petrie July 20th, 2004, 02:09 PM I'm contemplating getting rid of mine, as I am in need of a few other items, and I've never used it in the field.
Included would be everything that came with it (vest, rig, 5" LCD screen, i'm sure it's a rebadged nebtek, charger, bogen QR plate etc...).
The original docking station screw knob/clamp (on the c-stand mounting piece) was made of really cheap plastic, and broke when it dropped on the floor. I replaced the screw with a really strong screw knob with a long bolt thread-locked. This has nothing to do with the rig itself, just the c-stand mounting dock.
I also have the accessory kit (low mode, vista post, offset adapters) that I'm willing to sell seperately. I've only ever used the offset adapters, everything else is mint I'm not going to part the accessory kit out, each piece can be used with another part for different configurations, heights, etc..
Offers for either?
Bernard Diaz July 20th, 2004, 02:10 PM Not a problem. If you can't find a seller with all of your needs, I'll leave the door open if you change your mind.
The door is also open for anyone interested.
I wanted to mention to you that I have a varizoom shoulder mount that I could throw in if you or anyone else is interested;-)
see it here

the cam is in absolutely pristine condition minus the scratches on the accessory boot and the record button paint, but both are totally insignificant and could be fixed rather easily.

all 3 for 550$+shipping
35mm Foton Zoom Lense 37-140mm converted PL MOUNT, f4.5 (at the front is written 1:3.5 but it starts 4.5 so i think they refer one to t and one to f stop). it has a dot in the center of the front lense. i havnt seen it on a picture while connected on a mini35. stainless steel pl mount is removable and could be used with other lenses when they have the propper backpart diameter.
http://home.t-online.de/home/jcarter/37-140mm.JPG
250$+shipping
Stainless Steel PL Mount without screws (you need to buy 3 small screws ro attach it). the inner diameter is 1,89" so you could use it with other converted lenses when their backpart fits this diameter.

130$+shipping
Russian Anamorphic Desqueezer Extension
Its for russian 35mm cameras but perhaps could also be used for other cameras. Perhaps an adapter is needed to connect it, it is sold like you see on the picture.
it desqueezes the anamorphic picture so it is seen like it would look afterwards in its original aspect ratio 1:2.4 i think
http://home.t-online.de/home/jcarter/viewf.JPG
250$+shipping
Russian Anamorphic Adapter 35HAC10-3 F=35 1:2.5. from what i know it is usable with 35mm konvas lenses but i think it needs some knowledge to find the right one. it has a dot in the center of the back lense. not sure if that is degrading the picture quality (havnt found a propper lense to use it with). but perhaps some one can build something nice with it
http://home.t-online.de/home/jcarter/ana.JPG
130$+shipping
mini35 pl mount (the one that gets attached in front of the mini35 to attach pl mount lenses)
70$+shipping
century optics 16/9 adapter with bayonet mount for pd150/VX2000 in perfect condition

Catherine Harrell July 24th, 2004, 01:30 PM Keith, I'm going to be performing lots of logging w/ Sony tapes. The GV-D1000 should work great--I didn't know about it. Thanks for informing me.
Catherine
K. Forman July 24th, 2004, 01:35 PM If I were in a similar situation, I would go for the walkman for two reasons- It has a viewscreen, and it's portable. As long as it has the firewire out, things should be good.
Plus, it's only a little more than what you expected to spend, and it's brand new.
Patrick King July 24th, 2004, 02:36 PM Cathrine,
Could you be so kind as to jot down your experience with the video Walkman after you purchase and use it. I'd be quite interested to know if it satisfied your need and how you used it in your workflow. Thanx!
Scott Brickert July 24th, 2004, 04:46 PM Have you got an exact model number on it? Any known problems with it? Why selling it?
best,
Scott
Sam Forbes July 24th, 2004, 10:47 PM Scott
Absolutely no problems with it at all. The glass is absolutely perfect. It was purchased on an impulse buy and I didn't end up using it much so decided to sell it. I will send you a pic.
Not sure what the exact model number would be.
Andrew Petrie July 25th, 2004, 09:44 AM I forgot to mention, the accessory pack also comes with the vehicle mounting plate, so it's the whole package. I noticed Glidecam has 2 kits so I wanted to clarify that mine has everything.
Mikko - I'm not sure about the PAL/NTSC, I am assuming it is compatible, there it nothing that says it ISN'T compatible with both. I'll hunt for some info on that.
Jimmy - you're only about an hour's drive away from me if you wanted to check it out some time. Let me know ahead of time, because the rig is tucked away at the moment :)
I'll put together some pricing for those interested, keep in mind that this V16 is in Canada, so any Canadian potentials don't have to worry about import duties. I'm not sure about anyone outside, but if memory serves, US buyers won't have to deal with import duties either, since the product was built in the USA. If I am wrong, please educate me.
I still have all of the original packaging for the unit.
Curtis Barnard Jr. July 25th, 2004, 07:36 PM is it the .55x wide angle?
-Curtis
Sam Forbes July 25th, 2004, 07:38 PM Yes and the other side is a wider fisheye when you flip it around.
Savo Petrovski July 25th, 2004, 08:43 PM Major price drop need to sell asap
