Matt Stahley November 4th, 2004, 09:33 PM sold. Charles Papert November 4th, 2004, 10:02 PM Fantastic, Lorinda!!! So I'm trying to understand the setup...the camera can be powered off the power supply, but it will output video without requiring the deck (are the connectors on the camera or on the power supply--I vaguely remember that sort of thing from those days). Mini output for video, that's odd for back then... I'd love a picture of it if that's at all possible, and of course to know if it works or not. Electronics have a way of failing if they lie dormant for too many years. If a photo is out of the question, perhaps you can find a model number on it and maybe I can look it up on the web to get a sense of what we are looking at. If I remember correctly, Magnavox models were essentially the same as Panasonics, both being owned by Matsushita. Please let me know if this is a happening thing, I'd be looking to ship it as soon as possible. Thank you so much for your generosity! And just think, when the movie comes out in the theatres (yup, it's got distribution in place), you can tell people "that was my old video camera!!" Lorinda Norton November 4th, 2004, 10:33 PM Ha! You're right--that would be fun!! But, *ahem* you'd have to tell me the name of the movie. :) I'll dust it off a little and email a pictures to you. It powered up just fine; the camera part works. I just couldn't run it through a tv to a vcr to make sure that part worked. If the "smearing" to which you referred means an ugly horizontal line upon even the slowest of pans, you'll get it! Also, I can't tell if it's in the viewfinder or the lens just yet (sorry, I had to put it down to do other things) but there's some junk in the picture. I'll check that out when I clean it up in a few minutes. There's a dc out that runs to the camera. Bundled with it into one cable are the video and L/R audio cables that, in the old days, we used to plug into a VCR in order to record. So to answer your question definitively, the connectors are on the power supply side of the cable. Enough talking--I'll get busy taking some pictures. Look for them in your email. Hope this works!!! Charles Papert November 4th, 2004, 10:50 PM groovy! Lorinda Norton November 4th, 2004, 11:40 PM Did you get the photos? Believe it or not, we have a working camera. Once I overcame some serious operator stupidity I got the thing to record! What a picture! But it's just as I remember, so I think you're in business. model #VR8276BK01 Adam Wakely November 4th, 2004, 11:54 PM Hello all! I tried to sell my gear one time before but changed my mind. Some info would help me know what to offer. 1. When did you buy the rig? I ask because (as you probably know) John Gardner's made some mods to his basic rig in the past few months. 2. Has the rig been used on any actual shoots (i.e., as opposed to backyard tests & walks round the apartment)? I ask because you know the abuse only a working shoot can inflict. 3. Have you got the case John sells with these rigs? Is it included in the sale? JS Charles Papert November 5th, 2004, 12:49 AM Yup, thanks, sent you an email, we can continue off-board. Stephen Birdsong November 5th, 2004, 04:24 AM I've owned the rig for about 1.5 years. The case is the same that comes with the unit. It is in very good condition, I have used in on sets, but damage is minimal (virtually non-existant), as I said it has about 10 hours of use on it. It is not the most current version that magiqcam sells. stephen Hugh DiMauro November 5th, 2004, 07:18 AM I have the following brand new, still wrapped mini DV tapes for sale at $3.00 a piece. I will pay shipping: 10 (ten) Fuji DVM60AME U - $30.00 08 (Eight) TDK DVM60ME - $24.00 10 (Ten) Panasonic AY-DVM60EJ $30.00 01 (One) Maxell DVM60SE (Free with any above purchase) E-mail me at Invfraudguy@yahoo.com or answer on here! Thanks a million! Kevin Galliford November 5th, 2004, 11:55 AM Hey Ok here goes. Anyone interested in trading a GL2 for XL1s? I really want the XL1s. Maybe you want a smaller camera? Please let me know if you are interested. I've had my GL2 since June of this year and is in Excellent condition. Iv've now have had 10 or so tapes thru it. I've posted this before but they did not want a straight trade. I know I'm crazy but who knows Thanks Guys! Tony Hall November 5th, 2004, 01:02 PM I offer $2k Benny Ek November 5th, 2004, 02:10 PM anyone, anyone. Come on! help me buy my XL2 and 20D These cameras are in geat shape and both are great performers. I have lowered my prices so don't email me ridiculous offers please. Some of them are real pathetic Thanks guys Dylan Couper November 5th, 2004, 07:38 PM Benny, how about I just buy an XL2 and 20d for you, but just keep them at my house until I'm done using them? Sorry, couldn't resist. :) Good luck in your sale. Dylan Couper November 6th, 2004, 01:23 AM I'll probably be putting my Minolta A2 up for sale by the end of this month so I can buy a Canon 20d. I'm just making a broad inquiry to see if anyone is interested in it. I love it as a camera, but I need the versitility of interchagable lenses beyond the 28-200mm that is on the A2. Includes battery/vertical grip, two extra batteries, UV/ND and Polarizer filters. Probably going to want $1300cdn for it. It's mint+, still under warrenty, and only lightly used. I also take digital stills and like to travel. with the value of the gear I think a hard case is best. Cheap insurance indeed. The Pelican is watertight (good for canoeing..) and SOLID. The down side is that it weighs a bit more. Not too much and is good insurance. You can get a foam insert that you can "pluck" to make the shapes you want. I do not like that so went to a craft/fabric shop and bought some high(ish) density foam and cut it to fit. I then carved out the most efficient shapes to hold the pD150 and a Sony 828 digicam, plus tapes, batteries and memory cards. I left the charger out as normally I do not carry it and it would go safely in my regular luggae. By good chance the PD150 charger will also work on the 828. If you wish I could e-mail you a picture of my set-up. True, it takes a bit of time to do it right but I have a very usefull and sfe system. Martin Tommy Haupfear November 6th, 2004, 04:38 PM Dylan, it looks like a great cam. I'm guessing by your suggested price that it costs more in Canada? B&H has the Minolta A2 for $729 USD. The vertical battery grip and two genuine Minolta batteries (NP-400) comes to be less than $200 USD. Patrick Coker November 6th, 2004, 05:01 PM purchased this battery used from B&h by mistake. I actually needed the M series. I got a good price on this ($30), so if anyone needs it they can have it at cost plus shipping. Or if you have an M series battery you don't need we can trade straight up. Dylan Couper November 6th, 2004, 06:16 PM Yep. It's much more here in Canada. Last time I checked it was about $1200cdn for the camera at the local camera shops, plus the grip and batteries would come to about $1500cdn, plus taxes would be $1710cdn. So if you look at it that way, $1300cdn is pretty reasonable. That's why I listed it in Canadian dollars. I don't really expect to find an online buyer for my price since there are cheaper outlets for online shoppers. For Canadians who don't want to bring one in from online, it's $400 off the price of a new one. It would be a better deal for Americans, but your dollar ain't kicking our asses like it used to. :) Lorinda Norton November 7th, 2004, 03:32 AM Hugh, If you've still got 'em I'll be happy to take those Fuji tapes off your hands. They're hard to find around here. You can send the Maxell to someone else. :) Thanks! That is more than a fair trade value. Rus May November 7th, 2004, 03:20 PM Sorry for not responding much sooner. I've been doing a lot of traveling for October and have not been checking this board. Best thing I did. Definitely protects my investment. Of course, it didn't hurt that that rat bas**rd Rick Bravo also suggested the case. Mentioning his name in my house always seem to be the "Magic Bullet" when I need to convince my wife that I have to buy a certain piece of equipment. I suspect, however, that the magic and power of his name won't last too much longer since I stretched it's use way too far already with the PD170 purchase. Martin Archer-Shee November 10th, 2004, 04:33 PM Good move Hugh A good case is a good insurance policy. Convincing "the wife" that one is making a sensible decision when buying photo/video gear is part of the "game", and we all have to play it. Strange, since we are the one's who really know what is important!!!.... A bouquet of flowers is a good start. Seriously, a good case is a good investment. Hope ypu really enjoy the 170. I am jealous as I bought a second hand 150....(we won't mention "the wife's remarks). Enjoy Martin |
